There's really something almost nostalgic about a 7.3. There's been so many engine revisions since the last model hit in 2003, but some would still argue that the 7.3 was the best.  Either way, its hard to beat the sound of a 7.3 with a 5" straight pipe exhaust. Built from T409 stainless steel and featuring a straight pipe design, this kit includes all of the necessary hangers and clamps. You'll not only gain an enhanced sound from Powerstroke, but also the added performance, MPG's, and EGT reduction that will literally transform it. Built from 16 gauge T409 stainless steel, MBRP's Armor PLus Series performance exhaust systems offer a value price without compromising on the quality built into every component. Featuring a two-piece tail, the muffler is replaced with a muffler delete pipe to provide you with the ultimate in free flow exhaust. MBRP offers many kits in both single and dual outlet configurations. While the performance gains are the same for duals and single systems, the duals offer a deeper more aggressive sound over the single system. This is due to the extra tail pipe and the fact that most dual systems have a slightly different muffler configuration than the single systems.

MBRP even manufactures their "Smokers" kits, which are single and dual in-bed STACK kits to deliver to the hardcore enthusiasts! These kits are available in an assortment of sizes and styles, such as 5" and 6", with turnouts and mitre (angle) cuts. Smokers kits are even available in the new popular BLACK finish for that truly sinister look!!!

The muffler used on all of MBRP's diesel systems is a straight flow through design with a spiral louver core. The muffler is packed with stainless steel wool which is then wrapped with a ceramic fibre blanket to ensure longevity of the muffler. This combination creates the deep mellow exhaust note that MBRP systems are known for.

While performance gains vary depending on the vehicle, you can expect a gain of 5% to 10% in horsepower and torque. For example, with a 2005 GM Duramax diesel, you will see a gain of 18 HP. and 28 ft/lbs measured at the rear wheels. You can also expect a reduction in exhaust gas temperature (EGT) by approximately 200 Degrees F.

Does the job

"Sounds good. Front two hangars sit on an angle so they dont even hold any weight . Clamps tighten and hold good but its a pain to connect hangar to them. It worked but wasnt as perfect of fit as i hoped."

"Not a bad install. Downpipe was a little tough getting it by the tranny crossmember. I ended up pulling the bolts for crossmember on passenger side and prying it back enough to get downpipe in place. The rest was easy. Sounds great out the tailpipe and I can tell it flows so much better. Little quicker spool up and pedal response. But my favorite part is it is actually noticeably quieter in the cab. I’m not sure how this is but I like it. The only thing I can think is the reduced back pressure quieted it down in the cab but has a nice growl out the back."

Overall very good quality steel

"Overall very good quality steel and quite easy to assemble. As a note for those like myself who had never purchased an exhaust before, you will need to have an EGT sensor bung welded on the pipe. The pipe sounds great, and dropped my EGTS a decent amount. I personally would recommend a tip for more turbo noise but overall this a great pipe for the money and a relatively easy project for any amateur mechanic with a socket set and an angle grinder."

Had to change a few things

"Does NOT work perfectly with an excursion. Its made so that it fits with the removal of the spare tire on trucks that have beds. The excursion has a 40 gallon tank where the tire would be on other trucks, so i had to cut the pipe before the axle and again cut the over the axle, mandrel bent section of pipe as a dump. There is no other way to do it with the material provided. Other than that, everything fit and mounted as designed and i had no issue."

Will this system work on a 4 door dullay
Exhaust systems are manufactured for the longest bed and cab configuration, if you have a short bed there will be cutting required. -Mark
