Description
The factory HE351VE Variable Geometry Turbos (VGT) that started life out on the first models of the 6.7L Cummins were designed to alleviate the constant battle of under or oversized turbos having too narrow of a power band. In the past, with standard turbos, they would either have lackluster bottom end response, or lose efficiency in the upper boost levels. With the variable geometry design, you could now get the best of both worlds, as the turbo could literally internally expand and contract. Unfortunately, this resulted in turbos that would freeze up over time in their variable section due to soot accumulation. Whether your turbo is seized, or simply in need of replacing, we offer this direct replacement, completely rebuilt turbo, including pre-calibrated electronics for an easy installation. In order to improve upon bottom end response and overall airflow, these turbos also feature a billet, extended tip, slim nose compressor wheel. You will notice better response and higher overall boost levels, resulting in a broader powerband overall.

"THIS PRODUCT IS HORRIBLE. THE FIRST TURBO I RECEIVED WAS DEFECTIVE. . . AND WHEN I GOT APPROVAL TO SEND IT BACK TO THE TO BE INSPECTED TO SEE IF THEY WILL WARRANTY IT, I FOUND OUT THAT THEY WILL NOT PAY SHIPPING FOR THE FAULTY TURBO, YOU HAVE TO SEND IT IN TO BE INSPECTED AND AFTER IT IS INSPECTED THEN THEY WILL TELL YOU IF IT IS A WARRANTY ISSUE, ALONG WITH HOURS OF TIME WASTED AND WEEKS WITHOUT THE USE OF THE TRUCK WHILE I WAS WAITING. THINK ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO SPEND WHEN PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT!! I AM WISHING I WOULD HAVE SPENT AN EXTRA $1000 TO $1500 UP FRONT AND BOUGHT A REPUTABLE REBUILD OR NEW TURBO TO NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS."

DO NOT BUY!!! Dont work and dont carry warranty!!

"Bought this turbo a while back already, got it installed by a certified mechanic just because i was busy and didnt have the time to do it myself, but i visited him throughout. And i was there when he was finishing it off. We got it started went for a ride it worked great, and the exhaust break was amazing, but only for a short amount of time. The next morning got the truck started and had a check engine pop up. And guess what my fuse was completely blown for the actuator and MAF. Got it replaced got burned up right after i turned on the exhaust break. Got in contact with them about the warranty, at first they didnt want to accept it, they were blaming it on the mechanic. I got charged for the truck standing and they didnt want to send in a new one to get it replaced, because its a faulty actuator. The moment i unplug the actuator the fuse doesnt burn. They lied about the warranty! Dont get scammed buying it from them. They didnt give me a penny or help me fix the problem. Just stopped replying on my emails. So save your self from a headache and from spending a few grand down the drain."

"Own 2011 ram 3500 needing a turbo. Discovered DPP on the internet so I checked them out! Ordered the stock drop in replacement I wanted with the billet wheel upgrade. I believed I was getting good value for the money until I needed to use the warranty. Due to an injury, I’m physically not capable of installing the turbo myself so I hired a Cummins mechanic in a certified Cummins shop for the install. This man has worked on my class 8 trucks in the past and I’m very confident of his knowledge and ability. That said, my mechanic contacted me to inform me that the actuator on the turbo received from DPP was bad. I called DPP customer service and informed them of the failure and they immediately wanted to know the fault code. I had the mechanic on a conference call with DPP where he rattled of the code to the customer service rep. Payton, the customer service rep said “Oh know a failure to communicate with the ecm”. He then wanted to send me a complete assembly for replacement. This is where it gets bad! I explained to Payton that I knew and understood DPP’s warranty policies regarding this item however, the truck never left the shop when the failure was discovered. Additionally, I had already paid the mechanic to r&r the turbo once and under DPP’s warranty, I was going to have to pay it twice. What I purposed was just replacing the actuator. This is a plan I could afford! Would cost DPP less money and get my truck out of the shop! They moved my claim to the warranty department (in Arkansas) while stating they stopped replacing just the actuator because of customers contaminating the actuator with coolant during the installation process! While I understand their point, bare in mind, my truck never made it out of the shop when the check engine light came on! Look, I get that DPP has certain protocols in place to protect them from the untrained customer. In this case however, a certified diesel mechanic was involved and even spoke to DPP about the problem. It took two days for River City Turbo to contact me to address this issue but, I got what I needed to correct the problem, the actuator overnighted to Ben’s Diesel Service. My advise is simple, when it comes to purchasing parts online, go direct if you can! This will save time, not necessarily money, if you receive defective merchandise! Respectfully Jim"

"My turbo went out got on the web and found the direct replacement with the billet compressor wheel. Received turbo in 4 days. Installed with no issues. Currently I put 1500 miles on the truck with no issues. Returned the core in the box the new turbo came in. Transaction was as smooth as I could have hoped for. Will do business with these folks in future."

"Nothing but problem with the actuator, calibrated it said it was fine but every time I drive it it throws a code and runs like crap. Called to see if I could get a refund on my actuator but that was a no I would have to take my whole turbo off and send it in, that could take weeks and it's my only vehicle. I guess it's asking to much to have a new actuator sent to me then send mine in"

"Bought this as a direct replacement for my 07. 5 ram old turbo finally went south and installed this turbo did oil change pre oiled turbo replaced air filter made sure there was no obstructions drove less than 100 miles and turbo took a shit. I would not waste your time or $$$$$$"

Do I Need to buy the jumper harness for the new style turbo actuator or does this have the old style? Thanks, I appreciate it.
This is a direct drop in replacement and does not require a harness jumper.
Does this turbo come with the actuator already installed
Yes all our cummins VGT turbos come with an actuator already installed and calibrated.
I have an 09 with efi live will I half to upgrade from stock injectors to keep from having issues like throwing codes or under fueling
With this still being based off of a factory turbo that just has a lighter billet compressor wheel your spool ups will be quicker but since it is not a larger compressor wheel does not require tuning or fueling to accommodate. -Mark
Does the turbo come with the ported compressor housing as shown in the pictures? Just curious.
Not it would not, not sure where that photo came from. But the turbo is going to have a stock non-ported comp housing. -Sands
What are the specs of this turbo with the new wheels?
Everything is the same size as stock, just the compressor wheel has been upgraded to a billet aluminum one. It is lighter so it helps with spool up, and maximizes the airflow through the compressor cover. -Sands
