2005 Chevrolet 6.6L Duramax LLY

Description
Due to the emissions systems that are factory installed on the LML Duramax equipped trucks, no one makes a traditional in-line type of exhaust brake for these trucks, because it would create complications with the EGR system. However, several manufacturers are working on what is known as a variable vane exhaust brake, which is an electronic device that takes control of the variables vanes within the turbo to create a similar back pressure as a traditional butterfly valve exhaust brake. The advantage to this type of system is that they are substantially less expensive and easier to install compared to an in-line. And for those familiar with the factory exhaust brakes on 6.7L Cummins, these types of devices will essentially turn your turbo to act in a similar fashion to this.
