Your Cummins powered Ram has numerous coolers hanging out behind the grill. I mean, come on, do you really need an intercooler, radiator, transmission cooler, A/C condenser, and a power steering cooler? Well, yes, you do! All of these coolers are extremely important to ensure that not only oil, but also incoming air, are kept at an optimal temperature. However, as you increase both the power and physical miles on your truck, your factory coolers are unable to perform their job as effectively, and high temperatures are the single most detrimental factor to powertrain longevity and available power. In short, as oil temperatures rise, the oil breaks down and loses its friction modifiers. In air, as temperatures rise, it becomes less dense. The good news is we offer solutions to keep your truck running cool, delivering additional power and longevity.
Specifically, adding an upgraded aftermarket intercooler to your Cummins will deliver one of the biggest reductions in EGT (Exhaust Gas Reduction) compared to nearly any other product. And for owners of 2005 Cummins, you have a HUGE reason to change out your stock intercooler.....the factory one was plastic end tanks! That's right, back in 2005, they thought that a plastic intercooler was a great idea, but turns out they were wrong, which is why Ram went back to a metal intercooler in 2006. These plastic units are highly susceptible to cracking even under stock boost levels. And when your intercooler cracks, it essentially renders your truck useless, waiting for a tow truck. This is the same reasoning we highly recommend owners of any model year Cummins to upgrade the intercooler boots. The stock rubber boots are known for cracking, causing severe air leaks. We offer silicone hoses with optional spring loaded clamps to ensure you'll never be stranded from something as simple as a cracked intercooler hose.
