This is THE best programmer on the market for the 03-07 5.9L Cummins. Every single truck that we have loaded a Smarty Jr. in to test drive it has driven away owning one, they are simply awesome! Sure, the Jr. model doesn't have as many power levels as the Sr. version. But if you're like most and are going to maybe add an upgraded exhaust, cold air intake, and possibly a few other upgrades, the Jr. version is for you. Simply put, its easy to use, and it works. You can expect a very noticeable increase in power and a bump in fuel economy once some of the fun wears off.This product is geared toward the customer who wants reliable and safe power for both the engine and the transmission combined with good fuel mileage. In fact, the main concern during the development of the performance software have been lowest EGT's and lowest smoke levels possible. Even when used at the highest horsepower level, typical exhaust gas temperatures are on average 200°F cooler than with stock software! Under normal driving conditions Smarty junior can be used without the need for gauges, even towing up to GCWR! One of the biggest reasons we choose Smarty, isn't because of the overall power gains, but really WHERE the power comes in at. While many other programmers deliver the same overall power, it comes down to what Smarty calls their CaTCHER software. This software brings the power right off of idle so you can experience the power increase throughout the entire RPM range, not just at wide open throttle.

"I didn't want the big tuner and have to worry about the different settings. I followed the directions and recommendations for having a built transmission. It fills the gaps where the stock tune has glaring holes. Drives like a more modern truck without all the hassles and costs associated with newer rigs. A little bit of black smoke when I step on it, but not enough to get a call from the State to get the truck emissions tested. It was nice to get the tire size correct so my speedometer was accurate as well. I believe I'm getting better mileage but haven't been on a long trip yet. Everything else is stock and I'm glad I don't have to worry about the side effects that come with a more aggressive tuner."

Makes my ram 5. 9 way better to drive

"Overall love it. It’s a bit confusing to understand the sub settings in each of the 3 power levels. Took me a week to get it dialed in. The tunes amazing I run SW3 with timing and torque dialed back makes the truck drive amazing EGTs are way safe. For the price can’t beat it. If you have a 04. 5-07 close the doors during programming. Throttle response on sw2/3 is awesome sw1 pointless. Power gain in sw2/3 is noticeable"

Silver line 5-6" tip

"Not even close to the tip I've been rocking on my OBS Ford for the last 25 years. Finish is nice but I wouldn't call it polished. Thinner material and made in China. I sure hope our country gets better. Diesel Power Products shipped what they had in a timely manner for a good price. They didn't make the part."

"First off let me start by saying the techs on the phone are above awesome! I had trouble setting my tune and 1 phone call they had my truck cranked and tuned! These guys deserve a raise for sure. I loaded the tow tune and it’s a night and day difference from the edge juice with attitude I had on before. The truck runs so much better now and absolutely rips!"

Q&A

How well does the smarty Jr work with over sized injectors
It works good, but the larger the injector, the more you would benefit from the Smarty Sr. S-06 to better dial in your power settings. If you're just running say a 60HP set of injectors, the Jr. will be great, but anything larger and I'd recommend the Sr. model.
Will I have to uninstall this to pass Colorado emissions, or just turn down the setting?
Yes, that would have to be returned to stock and removed to pass any smog/emission testing.
Will this allow me to calibrate my Speedo/tire size?
This device does recalibrate tire height. -Mark
I’m interested in this tuner but I always want to blow some smoke every now and than. With this smarty jr blow smoke if I ever wanted to?
Turned up on the highest tune and if you give it a bunch of throttle before the turbo spools up it can. But it will clean right up. -Sands
04.5-07 5.9 with a smarty jr, whats ave torque numbers (ballpark), after install? HP claim is +40/70/100.. thanks
On a turbo diesel application you can usually double the hp number to get the torque number. So 80/140/200 ftlbs of tq. -Sands
