One of the most popular transmissions, the 6R140 became a workhorse that could handle the power of the 6.7L Powerstroke. The dual planetary gearsets on top of large diameter clutches and larger output shafts put it as one of the best as you drive it off the showroom floor. 6R140 is an excellent transmission but like everything else, it does have some shortcomings. One of which is that age has a way of catching up to it after 100,000 miles and can cause failure if you don't catch it early enough.
