Description
The factory turbo found on the 2011-2014 SuperDuty diesel engines had a higher failure rate than any owner of these trucks would like to see. In most instances, they don't slowly fail where they exhibit poor spool up performance or a howl from the bearings. Nope, they just fail. And chances are that if you're looking at this page, you're one of the unlucky ones to recently experience this. The good news is that the turbo professionals at Rotomaster offer this high quality, completely remanufactured unit to get your truck up and running as quickly as possible, even including a complete installation kit. With a name like Rotomaster, you can have confidence you're getting a turbo that has been thoroughly rebuilt to be really no different than a brand new turbo. THE ROTOMASTER DIFFERENCE IN TURBO REMANUFACTURING: All wheels, shafts and corresponding bores are measured and controlled with specific go/no-go tolerances and renewed or replaced as needed to ensure trouble-free operation. Each unit is 100% disassembled and thoroughly cleaned using proprietary processes and dedicated specialized equipment. All components are inspected to exact standards, and renewed as appropriate to ensure that problematic areas that typically cause failure are renewed to the highest quality standards. 100% of rotating, journal, and thrust bearings and seals are replaced, and all mating surfaces/passages are renewed as required for a longer-lasting unit. Each unit comes with a pre-lube syringe to ensure product protection during installation. As a remanufactured Original Equipment part, this unit guarantees a perfect vehicle fit. Replaces failure-prone factory ceramic bearings with high-quality ABEC 7 bearings featuring Silicon Nitride ceramic balls, M50 inner and outer races, and silver-plated cages. Enhanced durability, strength, reduced friction, and improved performance over lower quality OE bearings that use 52100 outer race material.

Turbo Failure After 25k miles

"Have had the turbo on for a little over a year and has occasionally had no boost or anything after startup. Compressor wheel started locking up and oil seals are leaking on the turbo externally"

Dean (1/5)

May be faulty

"I had installed this item on my own and it was a little challenging but after my install I have been having a p026a code come up when on the highway. A shop I taken it to after was telling me the actuator wasn’t working properly. So now I have to figure out if the shop is correct and that would mean the turbo has to be taken back off and sent back for replacement or repair. I will update this when I am able to find out what exactly is the issue."

Q&A

Just installed the reman rotomaster turbo and now I’m getting a p132B:00 code not Achieving the correct boost pressure, is there a relearn procedure that I need to perform? I rechecked the install and made sure all exhaust clamps were on correctly and tightened, rechecked the intake plenum gaskets and made sure they weren’t damaged or fell out of place turbo was lubed before install
Yes there is a proper procedure for that. It can be a bit of a process to trouble shoot a boost leak smoke test first and foremost. If the map is clogged with soot it may need to be cleaned or replaced. Lastly if you re-used a vgt sensor, there is a chance that could have been an issue as well. I don't think it would be an actuator issue, but it definitely isn't out of the picture and definitely worth a call or email. I bought this turbo for my truck and installed it. I have been chasing an issue since install including but not limited to, boost and exhaust leak testing, replacing hot and cold side piping, map, maf and ebps sensors and calibration with forscan. The last shop to look at it said they were unable to get a full range of motion from the vanes when commanded by their scantool. I drive the truck for work every day so unfortunately removing it without another turbo to install isn't a possibility. I am going with a new turbo this go round and Im wondering if you guys would be willing to credit be back for my original purchase if the turbo does have a warrantable issue. I just looked at the review for the rotomaster turbo I bought and it looks pretty bad.. My plan would be to buy the new turbo from you and await the warranty claim. If you accepted it, I could get my original rebuilt turbo money back. Please call to discuss further. (775) 220-3084

Does this have upgrade bearings from the oem ceramic?
Great question! Rotomaster uses very high quality ABEC 7 bearings with silicon nitride ceramic balls, M50 inner and outer races, and silver plated cages. The stock turbo has both ceramic and lower quality steel bearings and uses a lower grade 52100 outer race material. So yes, the Rotomaster is an improvement!
