Description
One of the most common failure points of the 5.9L Common Rail Cummins is that of the pressure relief valve. These relief valves are a simple spring that is designed to relieve pressure as it exceeds a predetermined pressure, typically around 27,000psi. Unfortunately, as pressure is continually applied to this spring, it fatigues and does not have the ability to maintain even stock pressures. The PPE Race Fuel Valve is constructed from stainless steel and replaces the stock pressure relief valve. This valve eliminates potential low fuel rail pressure DTC codes P1093 or P0087 that are caused by insufficient pressure relief valve (PRV) spring pressure.

Opened at 1000 psi out of the box

"I received the valve in a timely manner and installed it in an attempt to fix a hard starting issue. It did not fix the issue so I replaced the injection pump regulator. It still didn't start easily or at all. Had it towed to a dealer and they found the valve was opening at 1000psi. No where near high enough psi in a common rail."

Low rail pressure fixed

"It fixed my low rail pressure, and I wanted to upgrade this part, instead of just buying an OEM one. Snug fit, great finish and a furture investment instead of just blocking off the rail. An easy preparation for a tune later on. I have the truck for commuting and just fun daily driver. -Magnus DENMARK"

Q&A

Is PPE RACE FUEL VALVE 03-07 DODGE 5.9L CUMMINS an operating fuel pressure relief valve or a block? If it’s an operating one, does it increase pressure over stock pressure and can that damage stock injectors.
This is a valve not a block off. It will not damage and stock components such as injectors, it's job is to simply maintain a proper rail pressure. Thanks for asking.
So I just looked at the 2 questions on this product and the questions were the same and the answers were different....... so to confirm is the PPE-213072800 a relieve valve or a block off ? And what is the pressure set at?
This race fuel valve eliminates the relief valve.
Is this a block of or just a upgraded version of a factory set up
That race fuel valve is a block off, does not have a spring inside it.
Would this be ok to use on a stock truck with 60 hp injectors being the only fuel upgrade they are the dragon fly ones from ii
Absolutely, that would be ok to use on that application.
Hello, just wanted to know if this is a replacement relief valve or a plug that deletes the pressure relief valve?
This can be used as a replacement pressure relief valve. It is rated at a higher purging pressure for trucks that are turned up a little bit. It is not recommended to run a blocker. While they are good tools to see if your pressure relief is faulty I would not completely get rid of it at the risk of damaging injectors. -Mark
