Description
The 2003-2004.5 3rd Gen Cummins originally came equipped with a fuel lift pump mounted in the engine bay. Later Dodge or Cummins, whomever you want to blame, realized this was a bad idea and beginning with the 2005 model years, began installing the pump into the fuel tank's basket assembly, as well as retrofitting trucks once their lift pump failed to this design. Okay, so this was better, but for anyone that either wanted even better than this, or their engine demanded anything more than factory fueling levels, this in-tank pumps made upgrading to an aftermarket lift pump quite the chore. In the past, with an in-tank pump, you had a couple of options to retrieve fuel from the tank. First, you could install what is commonly referred to as a "draw-straw" in which you drill a hole in the top of your tank and install a bulkhead fitting with a tube that goes into your tank. Unfortunately, for many, this resulted in what's known as "1/4 tank issues" where the straw is unable to pull fuel from the tank once fuel levels dipped below 1/4 of a tank. Secondly, you could install a sump where you're required to remove all fuel from your tank and install basically a bowl on the bottom of your tank and fuel is drawn from the lowest point on the tank. While this is great in order to simplify the process and eliminate these 1/4 tank issues, they're troublesome to install, prone to leaking if not sealed properly, and require a hose to run along the bottom of your tank.Fleece Performance sought to rectify all of these issues created by having an in-tank pump, and they have, with their SureFlo Performance Sending Units! SureFlo performance sending units are designed to work with aftermarket lift pumps and fits directly into your stock sending unit location. It features factory style quick disconnects to adapt your stock fuel lines at the tank, giving you the cleanest installation available, and requiring no cutting or drilling of the tank. SureFlo works by drawing fuel from, and returning fuel to, the bucket assembly at the base of the unit. This ensures you are always drawing fuel into your pump and not drawing air into the fuel system as well as eliminates the dreaded 1/4 tank problems. The SureFlo bucket also incorporates one way check valves to allow fuel to easily flow in at lower levels.Fleece SureFlo performance sending units are also a great alternative for trucks originally equipped without an in tank pump needing to repair a malfunctioning level sender or if you are simply looking to run your own custom fuel lines directly to the tank.

2005 Dodge Ram 2500/Awesome quality!

"This was a perfect upgrade for my fuel system in my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500. Pairs well with the Fass system. Plug and play. Has good install instructions. Material quality is also really good. Can't wait to see how it performs over time."

Fleece sureflo

"The 3 stars is not for DPP. The part looks cool and all but I purchased it so I didn’t have to add a sump or draw straw when I installed my airdog, which worked fine for that. My fuel gauge never had an issue but now does not read properly and after talking to fleece several times I am just stuck with a gauge that doesn’t read properly. At 3/4 of a tank my truck takes 20 gallons to fill up. Fleece sent me another file card for the float arm and another float and still no change. Ruled out wiring after I tore the harnesses all apart and checked everything. Other than an gauge that doesn’t read right now it’s a nice part."

so far pretty excellent

"Purchased this unit after having bought a FASS 165gph, sump kit with draw straw and decided I didn't want to drill a bunch of holes in the top and bottom of my fuel tank. Decided on this unit and have to say, shipping was great as far as being packaged the right way and in a way that it wouldn't get damaged unless ran over. Came with all the parts needed for install with my FASS but the instructions I got left a lot to be desired. Couple of things I don't like are that the fuel float now sits at the back of the tank versus the factory towards the middle of the tank. Fuel level stays accurate so that's not a big deal. The biggest thing that I don't like is that the return line from the FASS into the sureflo unit adapters have the bed sitting right on it. There is about a credit card worth of space between the bed and the fitting so I am going to have to pull my bed off again and hammer down that part of the bed so its has more clearance. I think that if Fleece would move the return port to another spot in the sureflo unit, maybe at the top where there is 5-10 inch's of clearance that wouldn't be an issue and people could better run the fuel lines. 1 should also look into maybe building there own full lines in order to prevent issues in the future with clearance."

Wrong part

"This is the wrong part for the truck I need it for. After getting half way through install we realized it didn't work and they won't return it because it's been installed already. Which I understand but the part is still in new condition so it shouldn't be a big deal to return and it's not my fault it's the wrong part"

Works great. Installed easy

Not to hard to install

"Not to hard to install and worked perfectly."

Q&A

I have ordered an S&b 52 gallon tank and a fass titanium lift pump. Will this be compatible with all of that?
Yes, those would all be compatible with each other, should be all set!
Will this fit on a cab and chassis 52 gallons tank?
This will unfortunately not work on the cab and chassis models. While they will typically "fit" the resistor card that transmits information to show how full / empty your tank is, will be different. Fleece is actively working on cab and chassis specific kits, but no definitive timeline on when these will be released.
If I purchase this and a fass lift pump will it all connect together with no cutting or splicing the stock fuel lines? Also which fass would I buy? The one for in take or block mounted?
No extra cutting required. You will have the factory return going to the first return port. You will have the feed line going to your Fass, there is an additional return port off to the side of the SureFlo. This is where the return for the Fass will be plumbed into. -Mark
My 03 5.9 still has original filter mounted lift pump. Doe this directly fit the stock fuel lines and electrical?
Yes it does, it comes with 2 fittings for the supply side, one stock size QD fitting that your stock fuel line works with. And one -8 fitting for use with a custom setup using AN fittings. -Sands
