Description
Replace your worn or corroded factory cables in your 1999-2003 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke with this complete cold weather/hard start set from Custom Battery Cables. This cold weather kit is for trucks used in extreme weather (i.e. snow plows). They may be a little more difficult to install than the standard 2/0 kit. These cables are built from 3/0 (“two-aught”) cable for the starter and 2/0 engine block grounds and tin plated copper terminals. To prevent corrosion from the battery’s acidic fumes, we crimp the terminals with a 12-ton hydraulic crimper then seal the connection with adhesive lined heat shrink. Cables are shipped with anti-corrosion battery washers, military-style battery terminals with “Nylox” style lock nuts. This is a complete kit incuding the 3/0 positive battery cable to starter, 2/0 right positive battery cable to battery, right and left negative battery cables, #10 ga. relay to start solenoid wire, 2 positive and negative military style battery terminals with lock nuts and covers, and includes loom. IMPORTANT NOTE: Some customers have reported that the 3/0 terminal at the starter needs some minor modification (grinding or cutting with dremel) to properly clear plastic tower on start solenoid. Also, depending on the starter on your truck, you may have a 90 degree lug or a straight lug style. The stock OE starters have a 90 degree bend, whereas a Denso style "High-Torque" aftermarket starter would require a straight lug at the starter.

"they work great, and I matched the wires with a gear reduction starter and the truck starts like it has a gun to its head. With kind regards,"

High quality!!

"Worth every penny!! They have good instructions. solid fit, you do have to do some muscling to get the heavy lead to the starter in place. Paired with a gear reduction starter these cables will have the motor turned over better then the day it rolled off the assembly line."

"Parts were exactly what I ordered. Shipped as planned. Excellent service."

Not terrible

"Kit does not come with bolts to mount negative cables to engine block. So you’ll have to clean and reuse the ones you have. Does not come with new engine block mount for passenger side positive cable to starter. One of the grounds on the passenger side was way too short to reach my battery. Wire to starter relay and relay to terminal were way too long. Passenger side negative battery cable was also extremely long. 3/0 cable was difficult to maneuver because the lug did not want to align with the starter stud. However, my truck with the OEM corroded cables would only get enough power to crank the starter well but not enough to actually turn on. This was accompanied by a lot of clicking from the inside dash. After the install off this kit, about 6 hours with me cleaning contacts and re doing work, my truck cranks very good and did finally start again. I might have done something wrong with the passenger side ground that I mentioned but there is no way I could see it reaching the terminal on the battery. So for now I have one ground connected. All in all a good kit but in my case the cables and wires were of improper length."

Best cables ever designed!

"Installed the winter extreme cables on my 2000 7. 3l ford excursion due to corrosion on the factory cables. These cables combined with a aftermarket starter make my ford excursion fire up just as good as a 6. 7 powerstroke"

Justin M. (5/5)

Beefy cables

"These cables are almost twice as big as the stock ones."

Alaskan Rated

"I live in Alaska’s harshest elements. I needed these cables and they didn’t disappoint! The only “issue” is they were thicker, and therefore harder to maneuver through stock wire openings, than my old set. Well worth the 15 minutes extra work. Big, beefy and able to withstand my climate! Molon Labe!"
