With some 5.9L Cummins trucks, the factory heater grid is removed in favor of a higher flowing intake manifold for increase performance. That can be an issue if you live in colder climates. The factory heater grid pre-heats the inlet air to aid in starting the engine. Re-install or replace a failed heater grid with this factory Cummins Replacement Heater Grid to start your engine with ease on those colder days. This is a factory direct replacement part and is thoroughly tested to ensure proper operation. Installs using factory hardware and factory style wiring connections. Bolts, wiring, and gaskets are not included. See related parts below.

"The heater grid works great as expected. The one it replaced was still working but had almost 245k miles on the truck so it was pretty weak. I’m living in Montana and as long as I keep the block heater plugged in the heater grid does exactly what it should in the double digit negative temps. If I forget to plug the block in, it takes much longer to heat the grid, but it still fires up and doesn’t take as long for the engine to start burning the fuel like it should. In the double digit negative temps it performs as good as can be expected. We’ll see how fast it is in the summer."
