The camshaft sensor in your 5.9L Cummins is responsible for displaying the position of the cam to your ECM so that the ECM can deliver the correct signals for timing and other vital engine parameters. In most cases, a faulty camshaft sensor will deliver a check engine light indicating that there is an issue.
