Careful shipping to Canada

"The part is perfect and works great. The team at DPP was good. Shipping to Canada is the problem. The part is the size of a silver dollar and should have been put in an envelope and mailed directly to my address with a tracking number to skip the ridiculous brokerage fees I was surprised with and shocked by the amount which was just under $200USD for the 2 pieces I ordered. It doubled the cost of the parts and for no reason. I should have shipped to my US address and picked it up but I believe the extra shipping cost to ship to Canada was only around $25USD so I went for it. Lesson learned I guess and I will order from them again when I need something as they are just over the border."

"Little pricey but tig welded in never worry about a leak again. 100%"

Description was perfect and it

"Description was perfect and it works as it should I tig welded mine so wasn't as much heat on pan but great product!!"

If this had the notch

"If this had the notch that corresponds with the pan I would give it a 5. However, I found it very difficult to weld this in, the area is just too small, especially with a welding helmet. I removed the tire and looked through a 1" hole in the frame to weld this in, the other option is to lay on the ground and welding overhead. Which I found more difficult to see around my arm and over top of this part. I used a Lincoln 110 mig."

7. 3 Powerstroke weld in dipstick bung

"It’s the perfect permanent fix for the perpetual problem of the dipstick bung leaking from the oil pan on a 7. 3L Powerstroke. Once I had the pan in my hand, it took about an hour to prep, weld in, and re-paint the pan."

Very nice machining but there

"Very nice machining but there should be a notch in it to clock it to the oil pan . Other then that very nice"

Solid solution, overpriced

"A great permanent Weld on solution to the 7. 3 dipstick adapter leak. After shipping, $100 for a 3” diameter piece of steel that houses a about 2 inches of a dipstick tube is unreasonably overpriced. Had some minor issues seating the ds tube once fully installed, would only accept if tube was at a specific rotation, yes it was marked properly. Old oil flange must be dropped inside oil pan permanently if you’re installing with pan on truck. Said to be ok by pros but not the best feeling. Prep weld metal well, use a pancake/compact welding hood and smallest wire gun possible. Weld position under truck is not ideal at all, especially at top of fitment. Gun movement is limited. Use gas if possible, I used flux wire at the time. Paint after. Be patient and good luck!!"

Q&A

Instead of MIG welding how about TIG brazing? If I were to do it it would be TIG and so is there a good reason to not TIG braze it - such as the effects of oil residue?
There is no right or wrong way to do it. If you can do it and your confident it will not fail, weld/braze it in there however you like. The pan is mild steel and the adapter is mild steel. Complete Performance has had the best luck with Mig welding since it is a little more forgiving with surface cleanliness. -Sands
Does the inner piece of the factory dipstick mount have to be removed? And can it be removed without removing the oil pan? Thank you.
It can't be removed without removing the oil pan. Which using that repair kit I would recommend removing the pan and cleaning the surfaces really well in order to get a solid weld. -Sands
Can this be welded without removing the oil pan and engine still in the truck?
It can be installed this way yes. I would definitely change your oil after you install that. And make you clean it really well, also the settings will have to be dialed on the welder since you are welding the thicker flange to really thin metal. -Sands
