Description
Finally, a performance valve body designed specifically for towing applications to avoid neck breaking shifts. Installing an upgraded valve body to a Dodge transmission is one of the best things you can do to prolong the life of the transmission and to deliver a crisp shift pattern, instead of the "mush" stock Dodge transmissions are known for. However, many aftermarket valve bodies are tailored more towards hot-rod diesels, thus have a very abrupt shift schedule when used for towing. This is where the ATS "Towing Edition" valve body comes in! The "Towing Edition" Valve Body features a progressive line pressure increase and is exhaust brake ready allowing for 1st and 2nd gear lock up (if used with the ATS CoPilot). FEATURES & BENEFITS: Improved shift characteristics Increased reliability Optimized for use with exhaust brake The throttle valves (TV Valve) in a transmission's valve body control the shift timing between gears through the constriction of hydraulic fluid. The TV also controls the line pressure required to clamp the clutch pack and band inside the transmission. Until now, these valves have been known to have issues sticking inside the bore in the valve body, or wearing out due to friction, which will in turn cause malfunction and improper shifts. Despite all of the changes made in the past to the material from which the valve is made, the bore itself in the valve will wear and prevent proper movement of the valve. Especially in the Dodge automatic transmission, Dodge manufactures the stock valve body from a very cheap "mystery" material that is extremely soft and prone to premature wear. ATS has designed an innovative solution for Dodge 48RE transmissions using a unique 'Hydro-balanced Valve and Sleeve'. By altering both the shape and material of the valve itself, as well as placing a hardened sleeve in the valve body's bore, the sticking issues are prevented. The valves in the ATS Valve Body perform extremely smoothly and operate as intended after extended use. Utilizing this new design, valve and sleeve assembly allows the hydraulic flow to be altered providing a more aggressive line pressure slope, while providing quality shifts and torque converter clutch engagement. When using the stock TV valve or oversized TV valves, increased line pressure causes hard and abrupt shifts, unwanted by most drivers.

About ATS Diesel Performance
ATS DIESEL PERFORMANCE

ATS Diesel Performance, based out of Arvada, Colorado, is a diesel performance manufacturing company that designs, engineers, and manufactures upgraded transmission components, valve bodies, patented heavy-duty torque converters, exhaust and intake manifolds, electronics, turbochargers, dual CP3 injection pumps, and more for Cummins, Powerstroke, and Duramax powered diesel trucks. Operating out of a humongous 110,000 square foot facility in the heart of the Rocky Mountains allows ATS to keep operations in-house, as opposed to overseas sourcing, and then grueling test their products at altitude and through grades and descents that would make other companies think twice. From full-time RV users who travel nonstop to high-horsepower competition-based vehicles, ATS has the answers.

ATS DIESEL TRANSMISSIONS

Clint Cannon and Ranee Elder founded Automotive Transmission Specialists in 1993. At that time, the company specialized in transmission repair for all types of vehicles. In 1997, the company "Performance Torque Converters" was founded, and they started doing torque converter rebuilds in-house. Bringing the capability of building torque converters in-house gave them more flexibility to service their racing customers. As the popularity of diesel trucks grew and more people became aware of the power upgrades available for their diesels, problems with diesel transmissions emerged.

Clint started research and development into a more robust torque converter to address the transmission issues. It was discovered that a clutch pack design was the answer to providing a robust torque converter. The development of the TripleLok Torque Converter and the company's focus on Diesel Performance products resulted in a rename of the company to ATS Diesel Performance.

By having their foot in the door before most, it allowed ATS Diesels transmission upgrades to grow with the demands of diesel trucks, putting them at the forefront of reliability. Fortunately for us, Clint didn't stop with transmissions and began to explore and refine upgraded turbochargers, intake and exhaust manifolds, and anything else to generate additional power with the ever-present mindset of maintaining powertrain reliability.

ATS Diesel products are proudly made in the USA.

I would purchase again

"Had a problem with my 03 Dodge would start and run, back up just fine, but stall when put into drive. Changed a few parts but the valve body swap finally got it back on the road."

Q&A

mine has a tv cable not a tv motor, what electronics are required
Standard electronics for that year. I would recommend the ATS Gov pressure solenoid. And BD Upgraded Transducer. -Sands
Does this include electronics etc?
It does not come with any electronics, you will have to transfer them over from the core or purchase new ones. DppSands
