Complete overhaul kit for the Do-It-Yourselfer! The 48RE automatic transmission found behind the 03-07 5.9L Dodge Cummins has its limitations, which seems to be around 100RWHP over stock. With today's tuning technologies alone, that horsepower number is easily forgotten, which puts great stress on the transmission. Couple this with some moderate to heavy towing and you've burnt up the transmission. When it's time, don't rebuild the transmission with stock components, upgrade it with this complete kit from ATS. This overhaul kit from ATS Diesel includes all of the necessary bearings, bushings, clutches, bands, etc. to get your 48RE transmission back on the road. These are not factory replacement components, but rather upgraded components to handle the power and loads your engine is capable of, and are the same components that ATS themselves installs into their complete transmission packages.

ATS Diesel Performance, based out of Arvada, Colorado, is a diesel performance manufacturing company that designs, engineers, and manufactures upgraded transmission components, valve bodies, patented heavy-duty torque converters, exhaust and intake manifolds, electronics, turbochargers, dual CP3 injection pumps, and more for Cummins, Powerstroke, and Duramax powered diesel trucks. Operating out of a humongous 110,000 square foot facility in the heart of the Rocky Mountains allows ATS to keep operations in-house, as opposed to overseas sourcing, and then grueling test their products at altitude and through grades and descents that would make other companies think twice. ATS DIESEL TRANSMISSIONS

Clint Cannon and Ranee Elder founded Automotive Transmission Specialists in 1993. At that time, the company specialized in transmission repair for all types of vehicles. In 1997, the company "Performance Torque Converters" was founded, and they started doing torque converter rebuilds in-house. Bringing the capability of building torque converters in-house gave them more flexibility to service their racing customers. As the popularity of diesel trucks grew and more people became aware of the power upgrades available for their diesels, problems with diesel transmissions emerged.

Clint started research and development into a more robust torque converter to address the transmission issues. It was discovered that a clutch pack design was the answer to providing a robust torque converter. The development of the TripleLok Torque Converter and the company's focus on Diesel Performance products resulted in a rename of the company to ATS Diesel Performance.

By having their foot in the door before most, it allowed ATS Diesels transmission upgrades to grow with the demands of diesel trucks, putting them at the forefront of reliability. Fortunately for us, Clint didn't stop with transmissions and began to explore and refine upgraded turbochargers, intake and exhaust manifolds, and anything else to generate additional power with the ever-present mindset of maintaining powertrain reliability.

Quality product install went smooth only down. . .

"Quality product install went smooth only downfall is they do not include the selective snap rings you need for the extra frictions and steels in which I would rather pay a few more bucks on the kit with it included than to make it a hassel finding one locally. I could not find one locally so I had to leave one of the extra frictions out"

Is this what u guys call the stage 3
We don't label or consider that kit as a stage. If anything it would be a stage 1. It has upgraded components to help hold extra power. But you also have to consider valve body, converter, and shafts when it comes to hp holding capability. DppSands.
What exactly is the kit made of. Koleen steels? What's the friction materials?
They use the Raybestos GPZ series clutches/steels in their kits.
