Description
Finally, a performance valve body designed specifically for towing applications to avoid neck breaking shifts. Installing an upgraded valve body to a Dodge transmission is one of the best things you can do to prolong the life of the transmission and to deliver a crisp shift pattern, instead of the "mush" stock Dodge transmissions are known for. However, many aftermarket valve bodies are tailored more towards hot-rod diesels, thus have a very abrupt shift schedule when used for towing. This is where the ATS "Towing Edition" valve body comes in! The "Towing Edition" Valve Body features a progressive line pressure increase and is exhaust brake ready allowing for 1st and 2nd gear lock up (if used with the ATS CoPilot). FEATURES & BENEFITS: Improved shift characteristics Increased reliability Optimized for use with exhaust brake The throttle valves (TV Valve) in a transmission's valve body control the shift timing between gears through the constriction of hydraulic fluid. The TV also controls the line pressure required to clamp the clutch pack and band inside the transmission. Until now, these valves have been known to have issues sticking inside the bore in the valve body, or wearing out due to friction, which will in turn cause malfunction and improper shifts. Despite all of the changes made in the past to the material from which the valve is made, the bore itself in the valve will wear and prevent proper movement of the valve. Especially in the Dodge automatic transmission, Dodge manufactures the stock valve body from a very cheap "mystery" material that is extremely soft and prone to premature wear. ATS has designed an innovative solution for Dodge 48RE transmissions using a unique 'Hydro-balanced Valve and Sleeve'. By altering both the shape and material of the valve itself, as well as placing a hardened sleeve in the valve body's bore, the sticking issues are prevented. The valves in the ATS Valve Body perform extremely smoothly and operate as intended after extended use. Utilizing this new design, valve and sleeve assembly allows the hydraulic flow to be altered providing a more aggressive line pressure slope, while providing quality shifts and torque converter clutch engagement. When using the stock TV valve or oversized TV valves, increased line pressure causes hard and abrupt shifts, unwanted by most drivers.

About ATS Diesel Performance
ATS DIESEL PERFORMANCE

ATS Diesel Performance, based out of Arvada, Colorado, is a diesel performance manufacturing company that designs, engineers, and manufactures upgraded transmission components, valve bodies, patented heavy-duty torque converters, exhaust and intake manifolds, electronics, turbochargers, dual CP3 injection pumps, and more for Cummins, Powerstroke, and Duramax powered diesel trucks. Operating out of a humongous 110,000 square foot facility in the heart of the Rocky Mountains allows ATS to keep operations in-house, as opposed to overseas sourcing, and then grueling test their products at altitude and through grades and descents that would make other companies think twice. From full-time RV users who travel nonstop to high-horsepower competition-based vehicles, ATS has the answers.

ATS DIESEL TRANSMISSIONS

Clint Cannon and Ranee Elder founded Automotive Transmission Specialists in 1993. At that time, the company specialized in transmission repair for all types of vehicles. In 1997, the company "Performance Torque Converters" was founded, and they started doing torque converter rebuilds in-house. Bringing the capability of building torque converters in-house gave them more flexibility to service their racing customers. As the popularity of diesel trucks grew and more people became aware of the power upgrades available for their diesels, problems with diesel transmissions emerged.

Clint started research and development into a more robust torque converter to address the transmission issues. It was discovered that a clutch pack design was the answer to providing a robust torque converter. The development of the TripleLok Torque Converter and the company's focus on Diesel Performance products resulted in a rename of the company to ATS Diesel Performance.

By having their foot in the door before most, it allowed ATS Diesels transmission upgrades to grow with the demands of diesel trucks, putting them at the forefront of reliability. Fortunately for us, Clint didn't stop with transmissions and began to explore and refine upgraded turbochargers, intake and exhaust manifolds, and anything else to generate additional power with the ever-present mindset of maintaining powertrain reliability.

ATS Diesel products are proudly made in the USA.

I will recommend the product to my clients

"I put this valve body in my 06 dodge 2500 that is pushing over 360,000 miles and sees a trailer most of its life now. The valve body does make for a fermer crisper shift. I am excited to see how it will work with an exhaust breaks when I put one on the truck. The tech help is very handy as well. Only reason it's not 5 stars is cause the photos are not what I got and it doesn't state any were that the electronics are not included"

only have 100 miles on it so far it took away. . .

"only have 100 miles on it so far it took away my hard shifting I was having and my quick shifting. Seems to hold rpms a little longer I would recommend this over your stock valve bodie Cons Don't let the picture fool you this does not come with any electrical"

Q&A

it says that the Valve Body is Out of stock currently. Since I need to Defer Core Charge, Will they Postpone the "start date" until it is delivered or does it start when it is ordered?
Good question. The "core time" starts when you get you item/s. You will get an automated email about the core return but as stated the time won't start until you get your order. Thank you.
Will it work with the Banks exhaust brake?
This would be compatible with aftermarket exhaust brakes yes. -AW
What electronics does it not come with ? I saw in some of the reviews they say it doesnt come with the elctronics.
You will have to swap over your solenoids and sensors like the shift solenoids, Gov pressure solenoid, pressure transducer etc.
Ive read in the reviews that the ""electronics"" are not included. What is ment and what do i need. My trans is stock. I asked the same question previously, but had my email info wrong.
You will have to swap over your solenoids and sensors like the shift solenoids, Gov pressure solenoid, pressure transducer etc.
Does this valve body allow for 1-2 lockup with the ats commander?
1st gear lockup is not available no, only 2nd and up.
