A failed PMD is one of the most notorious issues that plague the 6.5L Chevy diesels to date. So, what is a PMD? The Pump Mounted Driver, or PMD for short, is a black box mounted on the side of the injection pump. The most common situation that occurs when you experience a failed PMD is you're simply driving along and out of nowhere, its like someone just turned the key off and the truck will not start again. In most instances, you won't even get a check engine light on the dash, just nothing happens. Most often the PMD fails due to it overheating and melting any of the circuitry inside of the box itself. The good news is its fairly simple to replace the PMD and this particular unit from DTech is a great option.
