Your transmission was only designed to handle the torque and horsepower the stock engine delivers, and in the case of some Dodge models, even the stock torque can present a challenge. So when you start adding power modules, turbo upgrades and other bolt-ons, it's only a matter of time before the transmission wears out and eventually fails. This transmission package returns the control to you! This transmission comes with an enhanced stall converter and BD's 48RE tap shifter that features a "68REF" style shift lever, control module, gear selection display, and sealed plug-in wiring harness that does not require cutting or tapping of the factory wiring.
BD transmissions are built specifically to handle the high torque loads of diesel engines at our state-of-the-art transmission facility. We reprogram the valve body for higher line pressure, and add heavy-duty clutches with up to 25% more material than stock. The stock thrust washers, which disintegrate and leave metal filings in your transmission, are replaced with roller Torrington bearings.
Inside each transmission is a NEW DESIGN valve body that achieves up to 80% higher clutch apply pressures over the stock unit and up to 50% over the competitors with the increase starting at much lower engine rpm's and at lighter throttle pedal position movement. Light throttle shift firmness is also maintained at these higher apply pressures.
Our transmission packages also include a BD rigid aluminum heavy duty transmission pans which adds extra oil capacity and reduces case flex, an enhanced stall converter, plus, includes a BD auxiliary full flow filter kit for extra protection.
Each transmission is dyno-tested to make sure it functions properly in all gears before it is shipped to you in one of our containers.

SHIPPING POLICY - PLEASE READ - Due to the size and weight of transmissions, they cannot be shipped through traditional couriers, such as UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc. and MUST be shipped via truck freight. We do not offer free shipping on transmissions, however, we do offer a very competitive flat rate charge that is added to your shopping cart at checkout. Further, to aid in returning your core transmission, we give you the option to be billed up front for the core return and we will coordinate the pickup and return of your transmission. Once your core transmission is ready for pick up, you just need to give us a call or send us an e-mail with your original order number and the core tag on the transmission, and we'll take care of the rest. Otherwise, we give you the option to coordinate the return shipping on your own and independently pay your courier of choice. BD Diesel is known as one of the originators of diesel performance because theyve been there since the very beginning. Its by no coincidence that theyve been in the industry since 1972 where theyve seen competition come and go over the years. Quite literally, there are VERY few components that BD does not build for nearly every light duty diesel application.
BD DIESEL PERFORMANCEOriginally founded in 1972 as Valley Fuel Injection that specialized in fuel injection rebuilding and calibrating, BD Diesel gained the most notoriety beginning in 1989 with the release of their first exhaust brake designed for Ram trucks with the acclaimed 12 Valve Cummins engine. BD would later rename Valley Fuel Injection to BD Diesel Truck Service and Performance Center that operates as an extension to BD Diesel Performance. Today, they operate out of a 65,000 square foot facility in Abbotsford, British Columbia and employ over 100 highly skilled individuals. They are constantly pushing the envelope with forward thinking products that not only fill voids in the marketplace, but also take existing products and push them to the next level.
BD DIESEL TRANSMISSION UPGRADESTransmissions have a singular but ambitious challenge - to transfer all the torque from the diesel engine to the drive wheels. This must be accomplished while maintaining shift quality and minimizing NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness). With stock or OE configurations, this capacity challenge is somewhat less than extraordinary. Comparatively, a high output diesel that develops 2-4 times the original engine torque and keeping stellar driving characteristics at this power level becomes a new feat. Utilizing the latest technology in CAD and FEA simulation, BD can predict and eliminate failures before they happen. The dedicated team of BDs Transmission and Torque Convertor Department are true experts in the development and analysis of the diesel transmission.
BD EXHAUST BRAKESBD built its reputation on exhaust brakes starting in the early 90's with many casting designs for both engine and remote mount air actuated systems. Rugged cast-iron bodies with an offset stainless steel butterfly build peak efficiency quickly.
BD TURBO UPGRADESThe turbocharger industry is a special industry for BD and remains a key technological asset. When looking at BDs experienced staff, the majority of their key staff members have been developed in or around this technology. BD focuses on the customer's needs, whether it is fast turnaround, state of the art compressor wheels or turbine wheels, they look to deliver on the highest expectations. You can be assured that a BD turbocharger has been hand crafted to the greatest standards. Using precision lathes, milling equipment, honing machines, and inspection CMMs your turbocharger is continuously graded to exceed the OEMs specifications.
BD FUELING UPGRADESOwing to its heritage as a diesel fuel systems specialist, BD Diesel Truck Service & Performance Center is a factory-certified Bosch, Stanadyne, Delphi and Zexel calibration and repair lab. They are one of a select few injection shops in North America to have Bosch Common Rail parts and an overhaul and testing franchise. BD Diesel rebuilds most all mechanical and electronically-controlled fuel pumps and injectors for diesel engine applications.
