Description
The 6.0 Powerstroke is very finicky when it comes to consistent voltage. Many issues stem from inconsistent and/or insufficient power, creating a whole host of problems, including the FICM (Fuel Injection Control Module) not properly communicating fueling commands to the injectors. Ensure your system maintains proper voltage by upgrading to this replacement alternator from Powermaster. IMPORTANT FITMENT NOTE: Intended for use on single alternator models built before 9/14/2004

About Powermaster Performance Starters and Alternators
The two most important electrical components of your truck are the starter and the alternator. One gets it running, and the other keeps it running. Over time, these can begin to degrade and require replacement, and when that time comes, make sure to give your truck a big upgrade by going with the trusted name of Powermaster. These are designed as a direct replacement for a simple installation, but deliver big gains in power so you'll realize easier starts and better charging, no matter how many 12 volt accessories you're running.

Great unit but. . .

"Purchased this alternator because my factory one went out and I decided it was time for an upgrade. I put about 1500 miles on it before it started acting up. Voltage would spike to 15. 6v then drop to 11. 5v erratically. After checking the trucks electrical system, I found the regulator inside the unit was the issue. Called Powermaster to try and warranty it. They stated that it was my truck that was the issue. I took apart the alternator after the call and found the regulator was loose and the contacts were worn unevenly. Installed new American made regulator and have put almost 5500 miles on the truck without any issue. Hopefully mine issue was only a one time thing for the manufacturer"

"No more concerns about an In adequate alternator with low cold start amps. Batteries hopefully will endure a bit longer."

High Quality Replacement

"Had my orginal powermaster for at least 10 years. It started to drop voltage so I replaced it with a new one in my 2006 F-350 Dually. Works great and would buy another in a heartbeat. Putting out 14. 8 Volts."

Q&A

I installed this 200 amp alternator in my 2003 f350 6.0 along with a new serpentine belt. I've noticed now that the belt always chirps when I shut off the engine, and also no matter if I'm at idle or cruising at 65 to 70 mph my volt gauge never clears 13.5. At start up it drops to like 11 then climbs back up to 13.5 and never clears that. Is this normal to always sit at 13.5 volts and always chirpwhen you turn off the engine.
Voltage drop down to 9 volts during starting is considered normal operation so 11 I'd say is great. While running your alternator should be in the 13.5-14.5 volt range always checked with a proper multi-meter. It seem like you may have a belt issue if its squeaking. Thank you.
Is there a warranty on these?
Powermaster starters have a 1-year warranty on them. -Sands
The description states 03-07 6.0l but eth note says Intended for use on single alternator models built before 9/14/2004. I have a 2005 will it still work?
If your 2005 is build after that date cutoff it will work just fine. -Sands

I don't sell any alternators for Explorers. Just the Diesel truck applications. DppSands
