Description
The factory pushrods in your 7.3 Powerstroke are designed for factory power and boost levels. As power increases, safeguard your engine with upgraded pushrods. And if you're rebuilding your engine, no time like the present for a big upgrade with a set of Manton Pushrods. These are a stock length pushrod, but built from superior materials and thicker walls for increased rigidity. STAGE 3 PUSHRODS DEFINED: Designed for mild to medium performance upgrades. Hard drawn 4130/4135 seamless chromoly tubing which is the highest quality available from mills and originally formulated for aerospace/aircraft use. This is a high quality pushrod which provides approximately 170,000 psi tensile strength. Suggested power range is from 400-750 horsepower, and is used for multiple applications such as towing, OEM replacement, sportsman diesel, and factory performance engines. 3/8" STOCK DIAMETER VS. 7/16" DIAMETER EXPLAINED: With the allowable window that Manton had to work with, a 7/16 diameter is the largest diameter pushrod that will drop right in without any modifications. By increasing the diameter of the tubing from the stock 3/8 to 7/16, the load is able to be spread over a larger surface area without causing the pushrods to bind with the port of the cylinder head. This larger diameter pushrod will provide almost twice the loading capacity than a 3/8 diameter before beginning to deflect. Larger diameter is always a better choice when it comes to pushrods. WHY A THREE PIECE PUSHROD: In simple terms, pushrods transfers energy from the lifter to the rockerarm. If a pushrod is not correctly matched to the application, incorrect valve lift and valve timing can cause engine failure. With a properly matched pushrod you will achieve maximum horsepower and ultimate valve train wear. To achieve the proper pushrod for an engine, you must decide the pushrod length, diameter, wall thickness, materials, heat treating and end configurations to match the specific engine components and application. This may seem like a fairly easy process but to accomplish this there are several things that must be considered. This is why Manton only manufactures custom modular pushrods. Each end in a pushrod must be compatible with its mating components. This requires the use of material that can function as a bearing and at the same time be as impact resistant as possible. As an additional benefit, this also allows for an unlimited amount of tip designs. With a modular pushrod it allows the flexibility to choose "unique" tapers for clearance issues. Also changing the wall thickness, diameter and tapering the tube will change the natural frequency. The column of the pushrod must be made out of a different material and heat treated differently than the tips. It must provide the strength to withstand the combined abuse of high engine speeds and cylinder pressure. By using a dissimilar material from the pushrod end, Manton is able to utilize any heat treat desired. In most applications, Manton uses a material that is commonly available 4130/4135 tubing. In Manton's estimation, the only reason to ever produce a one piece pushrod would be because of the reduced cost to manufacture. But, Manton is in business to produce the highest quality pushrods available and for the reasons listed here they DO NOT manufacture one piece pushrods.

"Manton products are awesome. These pushrods wont bend like the stock units"

Jon M. (5/5)

You needs these when hopping up the 7. 3

"Stock pushrods are known to bend in 7. 3,even with stock HP levels. So when i had my engine on a stand i opted for these with 910 Comp Cam valve springs. I have 205/80 hybrid injectors. Very quality product. Stock 7. 3 pushrods are 3/8 (8mm) and these are 7/16 (11mm),thickest that can be used without any modifications. Only downside is these makes the access to glow plugs even more tighter."
