Description
Replacing your stock VGT due to cracking or is it just not holding up? Durability and keeping out any horsepower bottlenecks are crucial when we are dealing with anything connected to our engine. While there are many options out there to replace and upgrade the Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) on your 6.7L Cummins, few offer the ease of installation coupled with the superior performance delivered by the Iron Horn Series by BD-Power. Over the years, it has been proven that the stock VGT has a high failure rate. Quite honestly, you depend on your truck to get you from point A to point B, so wouldn't it make sense to eliminate a failure point, plus add some power while you're at it?! That's where the Iron Horn comes in. This kit replaces your VGT turbo and bottlenecked exhaust manifold with a genuine Borg Warner S300 SX-E turbo and a durable ductile iron T4 exhaust manifold from BD. While you may or may not be going for racing, pulling, or drag the SX-E turbo was designed for SERIOUS POWER and supports that 950+ horsepower that you're craving. To aid in simplicity, the high-performance manifold is EGR compatible and retains the stock downpipe and intake instead of the "hot air" intakes or 2nd gen conversions. This is the perfect kit for removing their VGT without breaking the bank. A/R RATIO OPTIONS: This turbo is available in either a 0.91 or 1.00 A/R ratio. You may be asking what in the world an A/R ratio is? In short, A/R, or Area/Radius, defines a ratio of the area in the turbine housing to that of the radius of the centerline. Overall, the smaller the A/R, the quicker the turbo will spool, but the less overall airflow it can produce. If you want a quick spooling turbo, go with a smaller A/R, but if you'd rather sacrifice a small amount of low end response for even lower EGT's and more mid to top end airflow, go with a larger A/R.

About BD-Power

BD Diesel is known as one of the originators of diesel performance because theyve been there since the very beginning. Its by no coincidence that theyve been in the industry since 1972 where theyve seen competition come and go over the years. You could consider them a front to back organization in which they design and manufacture products ranging from Super B Turbo Kits and performance injectors for your Cummins to heavy duty transmissions, torque converters, and other transmission components for your Duramax to Positive Air Shutdowns and exhaust brakes for your Powerstroke and everything in between. Quite literally, there are VERY few components that BD does not build for nearly every light duty diesel application.

BD DIESEL PERFORMANCE

Originally founded in 1972 as Valley Fuel Injection that specialized in fuel injection rebuilding and calibrating, BD Diesel gained the most notoriety beginning in 1989 with the release of their first exhaust brake designed for Ram trucks with the acclaimed 12 Valve Cummins engine. BD would later rename Valley Fuel Injection to BD Diesel Truck Service and Performance Center that operates as an extension to BD Diesel Performance. Today, they operate out of a 65,000 square foot facility in Abbotsford, British Columbia and employ over 100 highly skilled individuals. They are constantly pushing the envelope with forward thinking products that not only fill voids in the marketplace, but also take existing products and push them to the next level.

BD DIESEL TRANSMISSION UPGRADES

Transmissions have a singular but ambitious challenge - to transfer all the torque from the diesel engine to the drive wheels. This must be accomplished while maintaining shift quality and minimizing NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness). With stock or OE configurations, this capacity challenge is somewhat less than extraordinary. Comparatively, a high output diesel that develops 2-4 times the original engine torque and keeping stellar driving characteristics at this power level becomes a new feat. Utilizing the latest technology in CAD and FEA simulation, BD can predict and eliminate failures before they happen. The dedicated team of BDs Transmission and Torque Convertor Department are true experts in the development and analysis of the diesel transmission.

BD EXHAUST BRAKES

BD built its reputation on exhaust brakes starting in the early 90's with many casting designs for both engine and remote mount air actuated systems. Rugged cast-iron bodies with an offset stainless steel butterfly build peak efficiency quickly.

BD TURBO UPGRADES

The turbocharger industry is a special industry for BD and remains a key technological asset. When looking at BDs experienced staff, the majority of their key staff members have been developed in or around this technology. BD focuses on the customer's needs, whether it is fast turnaround, state of the art compressor wheels or turbine wheels, they look to deliver on the highest expectations. You can be assured that a BD turbocharger has been hand crafted to the greatest standards. Using precision lathes, milling equipment, honing machines, and inspection CMMs your turbocharger is continuously graded to exceed the OEMs specifications.

BD FUELING UPGRADES

Owing to its heritage as a diesel fuel systems specialist, BD Diesel Truck Service & Performance Center is a factory-certified Bosch, Stanadyne, Delphi and Zexel calibration and repair lab. They are one of a select few injection shops in North America to have Bosch Common Rail parts and an overhaul and testing franchise. BD Diesel rebuilds most all mechanical and electronically-controlled fuel pumps and injectors for diesel engine applications.

BD ELECTRONICS

Throughout the automotive industry, electronic technology has become an integral part of the OEM solution. Whether it is safety, performance, or driving improvements, BD Diesel Performance has developed a strong electronic department to focus strictly on this technology. By focusing on the core needs of the customer, they engineer out the possible product failures and maximize key features to deliver a top to bottom solution. Utilizing state of the art manufacturing equipment, BD maximizes value and minimizes time consuming tasks that inflate costs. Vehicle electronic technology will remain a key technology at BD Diesel Performance.

Waste of money

"Ya it was a direct bolt on I will give them that. But if you want a laggy, annoyingly loud , waste of money turbo, this is it. So don’t waste your time nor money on this thing"

"I went with the s369sxe with the 1. 0 housing and wow on my EGTs went 300 degrees cooler then stock. On my highest tune the truck barley hits 1100*EGT and also made 524hp/980tq stock injectors stock fuel"

Q&A

So I have a 2008 2500 6.7 currently have the bd diesel 364 I’m running 100 hp injectors banks inter cooler fass fuel pump question is what turbo will work better for my truck 366 or 369 I do a lot of highway miles not towing at all
Good and very debatable question. a 366 is going to offer a more user-friendly solid for most daily drivers. While a 369 has the potential for more and bigger gains in higher rev ranges. Give us a call or reach out to talk about achieving your power goals we'd love to help.
How would this turbo do towing 11.5k lb trailer? Want horsepower goal of 650-700, but still need to be able to tow camper.
The S369SXE turbo might be a little to large for that application especially since you will need to run a larger injector. Potentially fighting with EGT's or low end lag with that set up. If the truck is not going to see a lot of highway miles going with a smaller turbo would be a better option (S364SXE) or if you are going to be on be on the highway a bit then would recommend an S366SXE if you plan on putting injectors in the truck. Call us if you have further questions. -Mark
What size hp injectors would I have to run with the 69mm?
90-120 hp injectors would support that turbo well. That being said there are many other supporting mods to consider then just injectors. That combo would be capable of 700+hp all day long. You would need built transmission, dual CP3's or a stroker CP3, head studs, potentially some bottom end work if it is a 13+ truck, lift pump, I would look at upgrading intercooler as well to help cool the massive increase in air. -Sands
Are there any other parts needed in this install i.e. waste gate, lines and fittings?
This is a complete kit with everything included for a proper install.
how can i know this is a perfect exact fit with my 2014 ram 3500 crew cab tradesman?
This unit fits all 6.7 cummins applications found in pickup platforms.
