Description
The most common reason for turbo failure on the 6.4 Powerstroke is due to the original turbo actuator. The issue is so problematic that the original manufacturer, Borg Warner, has released a revised version to alleviate these issues. These are a retrofit and do not require the use of the cooling manifold. Kit includes installation instructions and all required hardware. This actuator does not require calibration, saving you a trip to the dealership.

About BorgWarner
Over the past 60+ years, Warn has become more than a winch and hub manufacturer, they have become the leader in manufacturing for a complete line of off-road equipment and accessories to improve the capabilities of nearly any four-wheel drive vehicle, ATV, and utility vehicle.

Warn serves three distinct markets - Consumer Aftermarket, Industrial / Commercial, and Original Equipment. What this means is that not only does Warn produce top grade products for your personal use truck and ATV, but they also design and manufacture electric and hydraulic winches and hoists for commercial use, as well as build replacement components for the OEM market, such as hubs.

Warn Industries was founded in 1948 by Arthur and Sadie Warn in order to create a business of converting surplus World War II Jeeps into dependable civilian vehicles. Soon after, Arthur engineered the locking hub, which would become an optional factory upgrade to some of the major domestic automotive manufacturers by 1954. Five years later in 1959, the Warn winch was developed, and it was the first recreational winch ever produced. Today, Warn has a complete arsenal of products ranging from winches and hubs, to fender flares and bumpers, to lights and recovery accessories for applications ranging from ATV's to military spec equipment.

BorgWarner Actuator

"Brought thinking it would be a good upgrade. Installed actuator with no problem but went to plug the connectors together the plugs would not fit. Emailed and talked to customer service they said they haven't had any problems before. Tried plugging together again but this time I took a video and sent to customer service. Still haven't heard back and truck is still parked in driveway. About 4 weeks how. Will not name names."

Still not repaired.

"This Actuator did not come with instructions as indicated in the add. Reached out to the seller and they sent me a Pdf. That part was good. However I'd did not say what to do with the hoses on the old unit or provide any instruction on what to do with them laying on top of the engine! Then another snag, the linkage WON'T come off the turbo! After googling, found out it needs a special puller to get the linkage off, Needless to say it is still NOT installed. If I ever get it replaced I will repost."

Q&A

so we got new turbos from ford and this is the same actuator as shown.. the plug is different is there a available wire harness that fixes this?
Not that I am aware of. The connector should be the same coming off the actuator. I would contact Ford. -Sands
2008 6.4l. Installed the new aftermarket actuator with no problem but could not get a answer back on the plug not fixing properly. So I wired together. Dog bone moves front to back but when I start the engine the dog bone stay in front and the truck makes a funny noise. Any help would be great.

Install instructions are located on the description. -AW.
What do you do with the old hoses and how do you reroute the coolant it's not in the instructions
The two coolant lines will just get connected together with a brass hose barb union. DppSands
