Description
When lifting or leveling out your Colorado or Canyon, its imperative to upgrade the upper control arms to not only ensure you are properly aligned, but also retain the full range of motion of the suspension. Overall, aftermarket UCA's place your wheel back into a stock-like location once the effects of triangulation come into play after raising the front end, as well as allow the suspension to actually articulate more than the stock control arms would allow. In the past, the options for upgrades were abundant, but each had their own flaws, that is until the release of the Delta Joint by ICON Vehicle Dynamics.ICON tubular upper control arms are constructed from CNC bent 1026 DOM steel tubing and then powder coated to a semi-gloss black finish for maximum strength and corrosion resistance. ICON upper control arms are engineered with built-in caster correction for optimal alignment specifications and confidence inspiring handling. A main benefit of ICON upper control arms is the potential for increased wheel travel when paired with ICON's 2.5 series coilovers, which translates into superior performance and overall ride quality. These upper control arms feature ICON's patent pending Delta Joint. The Delta Joint is a heavy duty high angle ball joint that combines the durability of a ball joint with the performance characteristics of a traditional uniball. While the industry standard uniball does a great job of allowing the control arms of a vehicle to articulate with little bind, they do have an inherent weakness that leaves more to be desired when used in a daily driven application - exposure to the elements. The Delta Joint features a zinc plated housing providing the first layer of corrosion resistance, while a tough grease seal keeps potentially harmful elements out of the inner workings of the joint. Metal on metal construction and a greasable design increase the longevity of the Delta Joint while at the same time allowing for noise-free operation. What makes the Delta Joint unique is that it brings the best of both worlds to ICON upper control arms with features that make it more robust than a uniball, and at the same time capable of greater angularity than a typical ball joint.

About ICON Vehicle Dynamics
ICON Vehicle Dynamics is a premiere performance suspension manufacturer specializing in aftermarket suspension components for trucks, SUVs and off road suspension development. The companys business is customer-driven, technology-influenced, engineering-oriented and focuses on world-class manufacturing processes and techniques. Led by head engineer and SCORE champion driver Dylan Evans, ICON Vehicle Dynamics has the unique qualities to design and build the highest quality suspension components and test them in both real world applications as well as race conditions.

ICON is often asked how they develop such revolutionary performance suspension systems. The answer might surprise you. Their engineers actually start by determining a desired outcome of the vehicle they are working on. By studying forces and their effect on the vehicle in motion (Vehicle Dynamics) they are able to determine what improvements can be made. They determine how they can improve drivability of the vehicle, how to improve the handling characteristics and what changes can be made to improve the vehicle in real world situations. The end result of all this study is the highest quality and performing suspension products in the world. What also sets ICON products apart is our incredible commitment of time and energy dedicated to both ride development and testing. From vehicle dynamic theory to our years of experience and involvement in off road racing, rock crawling and just about anything you can do with a vehicle on or off the road. ICON engineers are in control and the driving force of the entire product line and manufacturing processes. This is made possible because all of their laser cutting, metal forming, CNC machining, welding and assembly is done in house.

Low quality product, even lower quality customer service

"I purchased these control arms about 2 years and 15,000 miles ago. Installed them with Fox performance 2. 0 coil overs set to 2. 5” lift in the front, 1” lift block in the back, and a 1” diff drop. Everything worked as designed, I got an extra inch of travel and was able to align the truck to within factory specs. Loved the suspension set up and the truck rode great on and off road. However, after about 6,000 miles and a few wheeling trips there was significant play in both delta joints. This was quite disappointing as they were supposed to be “strong and a uniball, quiet as a ball joint”. I filed a warranty claim and was told the warranty only covered Icon products if they were installed with Icon suspension and I had no warranty because I had used Fox shocks. I went around and around with them about this. Finally, they agreed to a one time warranty replacement after I sent them videos of how bad the play was. They then sent me only one replacement delt joint. I was told this was because I only sent them a video of one side which is true but I had told them several times that both sides were bad. They then refused to send me the other side and stopped replying to my emails. In my experience the delta joint is as noisy as a uniball and weaker than a ball joint, even weaker than the factory upper ball joints. I put 30,000 miles on the factory upper ball joints, including many off road miles before they failed, the Icon delta joints barley made it 6,000. So not only is this a junk product they have horrible customer service and will not stand behind their products. I would recommend spending your money with anyone else or leaving your factory upper arms on."
