Description
Cracked transmission tail shaft housings (located between the transfer case and the transmission) are a common problem for GM Allison-equipped 4x4 pick-ups in offroad and drag racing situations. Even a normal amount of driveline vibration can cause the housing to fail, resulting in a transmission fluid leak or worse; internal transmission and transfer case damage. Once the housing cracks, repairing it requires removal of the transmission and transfer case.PPE's Transmission Transfer Case Brace helps support the overhanging, heavy transfer case by spreading the load up and across the adapter housing to the center section of the transmission. PPE's Transmission Transfer Case Brace utilizes two 304 stainless-steel 7/8 inch support tubes tied together with a thick 304 stainless-steel plate for increased strength and service life. Mounting the brace is a quick and easy job that can be done without removal of the transmission or transfer case. No special tools required.

PPE transfer case brace

"I had a u joint vibration and it wasn't for more than 5 miles and it cracked the rear housing on the Allison. . . I am starting that project next week and I will be putting the transfer case brace in while I am at it. . . Only thing is I wish you could see it on the vehicle after it's installed. . . it's a high quality great looking part id love to show off and I do think it would have possibly saved the Allison adapter and the weekend it will take to replace it 🤔🔧:sign_horns|type_2:. Thanks again Diesel Power Products for the premium parts I need at a great price with fast shipping to keep my Lb7 Duramax rockin!!"

Great piece

"I'm glad we put this on."

Worth its weight in gold.

"I’m always impressed with the quality of PPE products and this brace is no different. Installation was easy (on the pickup). However, if you don’t have some bent head rachets or wrenches or super shallow sockets the top two bolts to the back of the transmission will be tough."

Cheap Insurance for your tranny/transfer case

"It's a brace that adds structural rigidity! A bolt on part! You can do the job in your driveway with a basic set of tools, if you arn't a complete knucklehead. I view this part as cheap insurance for the tranny and transfer case. I drive an older truck with an aging drivetrain! In my opinion this part is a must have if you're towing a lot with a truck of my vintage (05 2500HD Silverado 4x4 Crew with 120+K) which I have been of late, that's why I bought it!"

Q&A

Will this fit with a 6” suspension lift? 2005 Lly crewcab 4wd
There should not be any issues with a case brace on a 6" lift unless any relocation bracket interferes with the mounting points on the transfer case or transmission. Reach out if you have further questions. -Mark
Will this fit on the non-Allison equipped trucks? I have a 2006 Sierra 1500 4wd and I would like to get the hanging transfer case supported. Thanks.
It would only work on a Allison equipped truck. Would not bolt up to anything else unfortunately. -Sands
Will this fit an 05 2500? It has the Allison trans and GAS 6.0 motor
Yes the transfer case and transmission remain the same in regards to mounting that. So it would work.-Sands
Will this fit the LMM trucks?
No, just 2001-2007 models ( LB7, LLY, LBZ )
