Let me introduce you to my little friend, the S400 2nd Gen Turbo Installation Kit from Industrial Injection.The factory turbo found on the 03-07 Cummins is capable of supporting sub-450 horsepower levels. Above this point, it is being oversped that will result in failure, as well as the fact it simply cannot supply enough air to support horsepower levels above this point. Further, the placement of the factory turbo is not positioned in an ideal position as its centered on cylinders four and five as opposed to three and four, resulting in the front cylinders running hotter than the rear. So, what's the fix? Easy, this complete turbo and installation kit from Industrial Injection to improve airflow and square the turbo on the engine! The S464 turbo used in this kit is a great towing performance setup for someone looking for more reliability and pulling power out of their Cummins with superb street manners and quick spool up characteristics when paired with moderate tuning and minimal fueling upgrades. NOTE: Does not come with hardware for mounting the manifold to the head. TURBO OPTIONS: The standard turbo kit will utilize a 1.10 A/R exhaust housing which is great for maximum boost levels and low drive pressure. However, if you're running minimal injector size (around 100), oversized tires, 3.42 or 3.73 gears, etc., you would be better suited to run a smaller A/R ratio to actually increase drive pressure to assist in turbo spool. But if you're somewhere in the middle, say running 150 horsepower injectors, 35" tires, 3.73 gears, and daily drive the truck, you may be best suited for the 1.00 A/R housing. Industrial Injection received its name from servicing construction, agricultural, and mining equipment, as well as over the road truck engines. It was primarily an agricultural and industrial fuel shop. However, when Ford, Dodge and GM decided to power pickup trucks with diesel engines, Industrial Injection was forever changed.
