Description
So you've added a programmer, 4" exhaust, and a cold air intake, but you're still not getting the power you were after. More than likely, you're not getting sufficient airflow. The factory GTP38 turbos are a decent turbo, but are pushed to their limits even with mild upgrades. The Super GTP38 Turbo for your SuperDuty is a direct replacement of your factory turbo, but with MAJOR benefits. Featuring a larger, 88mm compressor wheel and 1.0 A/R exhaust housing, this turbo will drastically outperform the factory turbo, and is even a great complement to mild engine upgrades. We offer the Super GTP38 in both a high flow cast compressor wheel, as well as a light weight billet. The advantage to the billet is it will spool noticeably faster in comparison to the cast due to its lower rotating mass. The turbo kit comes complete with turbo assembly and silicon compressor cover adapter (due to the larger inlet compared to stock). You have the option of transferring this turbo to your factory EBV pedestal, unless you've already upgraded, or we offer a non-EBV valve from the drop down menu that will eliminate the troublesome EBV assembly from the pedestal. Furthermore, you can either switch your EBV outflow valve (on backside of turbo), or we recommend upgrading to the non-EBV version to eliminate the butterfly valve. While you can do one of these upgrades without the other, we do not recommend it. For instance, you can upgrade to a non-EBV pedestal, but then you will have to modify the stock outflow valve. By purchasing both pieces, you will be able to merely bolt the entire assembly together without modification. This is a new turbo, thus requiring NO CORE CHARGE OR RETURN OF YOUR CORE!

Quality made component, only down

"Quality made component, only down side is it produces a fair amount of intake noise."

Best BOLT ON upgraded charger for 7. 3

"I installed this on a 2003 Excursion with a 7. 3 and love it. I did add the billet wheel which does sound AWESOME and helps light that charger up very quickly. You will see a nice power increase across the board and once it lights it'll put a grin on your face, without a doubt. If you are replacing a turbo on your Super Duty and have not done the Up-Pipes that is the best time to handle that. Don't let those stock up-pipes leak all the new power you are making with this charger. I would also recommend getting rid of the EBV as it is a common fail point on these trucks and hinders airflow on the exhaust side. If it is time for a turbo step your game up and throw a GTP38R in the truck and enjoy the new power you never knew your 7. 3 had."

This turbo seems to have more power I'll find. . .

"This turbo seems to have more power I'll find out for sure once I hook up my 5th wheel and pull a good grade. The billit wheel has a slite whistle but from the other reviews I read that was expected. As for the install it's like they told me a direct OEM swap it took the better part of a day to remove the old factory one and replace but to be fare I also replaced the up pipes"

Q&A

I am looking at this turbo as a replacement for the stock turbo on my 2001 F350 dually 2x4. We use the truck to haul a 15,000# 5th wheel. I've been told that I ""MUST"" upgrade the injectors for this turbo to work properly, but I'm not going to do that! I'm not looking to make ""max"" power, but max ""safe"" towing power. I'm going to have the turbo off to do the up-pipes, and at least rebuild the turbo anyway, so I thought this might be the time to go ahead and upgrade, if it gets me what I'm looking for. What say you? Thanks.
You will still have a decent power upgrade with the stock injectors and the SUPER GTP38. One thing I would recommend if that you have taken care of the standard modifications, being exhaust, intake and tuner.
