Description
For those in need of replacing their turbo but would like a slight increase in power and low end response, the High Flow GTP38 is your solution.Built on a standard GTP38 platform, this turbo features an upgraded compressor wheel designed to substantially outflow the factory charger and is available both in cast and BILLET. The billet wheel will have very noticeably quicker spool up in comparison to the cast version due to its lower rotating mass. This turbo is also available with an optional high flow non-EBV pedestal and outflow valve so you are not transferring your worn pieces onto the new charger, as well as producing additional flow by reducing restrictions that come from the EBV assembly. For a complete kit, we recommend purchasing both pieces. However, some people will only purchase the pedestal and then modify their existing outflow valve. NOTE: You can find these products below. This turbo is a remanufactured unit that does feature a brand new cartridge, but will require your core to be returned. We also offer a brand new turbo that does not require an upfront core charge, or for your core to be returned, available from below.

Good value option for stock replacement

"Pretty easy DIY install on these trucks. Be sure to keep a short length of wood on hand to jam between the firewall and downpipe or wye when installing the clamps to ease install and it should install like a dream. EBPV rod has a little clip that needs to be released by pushing the tab toward the turbo. It's hard to see and that was my one hangup. I ordered the turbo itself with the billet wheel. Spool is quick and the truck is much stronger in low/mid-range, no change in top end. No turbo surge, but I wasn't experiencing it with the factory turbo, either. It is quieter than the factory turbo -- more of a whooshing sound than a whistle. It does its job -- I'd buy it again in a pinch, but would choose a KC38 given a larger budget."

I would buy it again

"Seems a little better than stock, does not surge anymore when pulling"

Q&A

This is pretty much a stock 7.3 turbo? I was wonder if I would need a tuner or anything like that
This is a stock replacement turbo with an updated / upgraded compressor wheel, which is available in two materials, cast, and billet. -Ben
What is the size of the intake/exhaust housings? I am looking for a upsized turbo for towing application. I think that means the 1.0 A/R? Is this basically the same sized turbo as the garret power-max but run on the thrust journal bearings? Are the journals 270 or 360 degrees? Thanks,
Factory compressor housing, Larger compressor wheel. Exhaust housing is a 1.0 A/R. These would feature a 360 Bearing, and traditional journal bearings.
