Replacing the restrictive, stock airbox on your 2003-2007 Cummins is probably the easiest upgrade you can do to increase power, throttle response, and fuel economy. Why is the stock airbox so restrictive you may ask? First, the physical size and media of the air filter limits the amount of airflow that can physically move through it and to the turbo. Secondly, within the "S" shaped tube between the airbox and the turbo, there is a large resonator (muffler) that creates a ton of turbulence. Overall, your turbo works most efficiently when it can ingent flat, tabulated air, and this muffler does not aid in that whatsoever. A high-density polyethylene (HDPE) rotationally-molded tube helps increase the volume of airflow to your engine, and provides a guaranteed increase in horsepower and torque.
