Description
This cam will help to drastically reduce exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and provide more fresh, cool air for your engine. That means less particulate matter, lower exhaust gas temperatures (EGT's), and better fuel economy! Originally, Hamilton built this cam for 6.7L Cummins owners looking to create overall efficiency while keeping all of the factory emissions system intact. If you have accepted that DPFs are here to stay, but you want to make more power and you don't like wasting fuel to clean out your DPF, this is your cam! And for owners of 5.9L's, after further development, Hamilton learned that this cam also worked extremely well in these models for creating efficiency in moderate street trucks. Due to its short duration and wide lobe separation angle, it also has the least overlap (when intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time) of any of Hamilton's cams, which helps to eliminate in cylinder EGR on engines that have higher drive pressure than boost. This occurrence is usually found on trucks with stock turbos with a restrictive turbine housing. Upon testing this cam, it produced an additional 40 horsepower at 1700 RPM on a truck running a 62mm turbo and 80HP injectors due to the fact that it moves so much air at lower RPM's and aids the turbo in spooling substantially faster. If you live at high altitudes, tow heavy, or are looking for the best efficiency possible for highway driving, this cam will be your best friend. And for those running larger turbos on a common rail engine, this cam will aid in low RPM spool up, as well.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
  • In order to work on a 12 valve, you must be running an electric lift pump as this cam does not have provisions for the stock mechanical pump.
  • When replacing the camshaft, you must use Hamilton's Zinc Additive for the break-in period. Hamilton recommends two bottles during break-in.
  • If you do not use Hamilton's tappetes, they will not provide any warranty
