If you are towing with a pintle ring trailer, use 2 5/16" ball. NOT 2" ball when towing.

For anyone with a truck that obviously uses it to tow at least some kind of trailer, determining the proper ball mount for each trailer can be an unduly pain. While the height of your truck doesn't typically change very often, each trailer can have varying heights coupled with varying ball sizes. At this point, you have several options. You can carry numerous ball mounts for each trailer, or possibly you just call it "good enough" and have a trailer that is not riding level. Or maybe you're one of the smart ones and have an adjustable height ball mount that allows you to carry a single ball mount for all trailers.
