Designed for 2001–2007 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD trucks equipped with the LB7, LLY, or LBZ Duramax, this upgraded rear housing replaces the factory magnesium housing with a stronger, more rigid aluminum design. The factory magnesium rear housing can be susceptible to wear from the transfer case pump, eventually creating a hole that allows fluid to escape. The DmaxStore XD housing is manufactured from aluminum rather than magnesium, providing a more robust mounting surface designed to withstand the pump-rub issue without requiring a separate pump-rub prevention kit. Eliminate the Pump-Rub Weak Point Rather than adding a pump-rub repair kit to a factory magnesium housing, the DmaxStore XD Rear Transfer Case Housing provides a long-term housing upgrade. The improved aluminum construction is designed to handle the normal movement and vibration of the transfer case pump while eliminating the factory housing material as a pump-rub failure point. Installation Notes This is a rear housing replacement and requires disassembly of the transfer case. The factory rear bearing snap ring and drain/fill plugs must be transferred to the new housing. The rear output seal is not included and should be transferred or replaced separately as needed. The rear output shaft bearing is intentionally designed for a tight fit in the new housing to prevent unwanted vibration. DmaxStore recommends lightly tapping the end of the new housing to fully seat the bearing while the housing is installed on the shaft. Specialty lock-ring pliers are required to disassemble the rear transfer case housing.
