CR2 Performance & Fab L5P Duramax Oil Pump Pin Kit 01-24 GM 6.6L Duramax

This CR2 Fabrication kit addresses a potential issue with the factory oil pump gear and harmonic balancer retention system on the 2017–2019 GM 6.6L L5P Duramax. Unlike earlier Duramax engines, the L5P oil pump gears do not use an alignment pin or keyway. Instead, they rely on the crankshaft balancer bolt torque to keep the harmonic balancer and oil pump gear from rotating on the crankshaft snout. High-RPM operation or improper balancer bolt torque can allow these components to spin, potentially causing serious engine damage. The CR2 L5P Duramax Oil Pump Pin Kit provides a way to drill and install a hardened alignment pin to secure the harmonic balancer and oil pump gear. The included drill jig allows the procedure to be completed with the engine still installed in the truck, eliminating the need to remove the crankshaft for machining. Installation requires removal of the radiator and intercooler to access the crankshaft area. The harmonic balancer is positioned 180 degrees from its factory pin location, and the supplied drill jig guides the drilling process to a depth of 2 inches. A hardened roll pin is then installed to provide a mechanical connection between the balancer and oil pump gear.
