About Borgeson
At Diesel Power Products we not only sell Borgeson steering shafts we run them on our own trucks. They are a huge improvement over the stock shaft and will eliminate the shortcomings of the stock set-up permanently. BORGESON Universal heavy-duty replacement shafts are a vast improvement over OEM and can take anything you throw at them. They are so sure they will outlast your truck that they give you a Five Year Warranty

Borgeson assembly is so much better than stock because of the precision, zero-play, sealed needle bearing U-joint machined from a solid steel billet. It's not a cheap stamping like the OEM. Borgeson steering shafts telescope for easy installation and are permanently lubed and sealed. The telescoping shaft easily handles misalignment from body-lifts and extreme off-roading.

Most OEM shafts have similar couple/flex-joint design, so we now have replacement shafts for Dodge, Chevy/GMC. Ford and Jeep. Some feature a vibration reducer to isolate road shock. Installation is easily done with common hand tools. The tight feel of the BORGESON steering shaft assembly will transform the truck! Borgeson has been making the finest automotive, aerospace and industrial U-joints available since 1914.

You can find BORGESON universal joints on the fastest racing machines and hottest street rods in the world including:
  • NASCAR stock cars
  • Indy Cars
  • Drag Cars
  • Dirt Modifieds
  • Road Racing
  • Off-road Racers and more!
Wherever high performance, heavy duty, reliable steering components are demanded, BORGESON is there. All BORGESON truck steering assemblies are proudy made in the USA and carry a five year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

For your diesel truck this translates into a much tighter steering feel that will last. We have seen play in the sector shaft with as little as 5000 miles on a new truck. These shafts are a must for anybody with a diesel running tires ANY larger than stock.

Reviews

Did not fit

"This shaft is not a replacement for my 2004 Ram 2500 4wd. I was able to return it but had to pay shipping and a restock fee which I was not happy about."

Works as advertised

"Works as advertised"

Good upgrade

"I’ve been chasing slop in the steering for a while and have finally been able to upgrade. At 244,000 miles on my 04 Dodge I was constantly chasing the front wheels. I didn’t have any vibrations, but it did fix and eliminate the slop. It was as easy to instal as the factory shaft would be and now the steering feels so much better and tighter. I definitely recommend this if you have slop but can’t find it under the truck."

17 Month 12k Mile Review

"The lower U-joint on the Borgerson shaft I installed in my 2007 5. 9 2500 has excessive play already. The truck has 37s set at 55PSI and has seen a few hard off-road days, but other than that, I've been gently on it. Hopefully, the warranty will take care of it, but replacing it after minor off-road use this early is is frustrating."

BigDur (1/5)

Shafted

"Way more failure points than the stock shaft. I will not get it or the 6 bolt box for my other trucks"

Q&A

What is the part number for the u-joint going to the gear box?
Unfortunately we do not sell just that u-joint, we do have the full Borgeson steering shaft though that is an awesome upgrade.
For the people who installed this, How's the shaft holding up ? Did you paint it before installing it?
We would not recommend painting that steering shaft.
will this shaft work with the MOPAR STEERING BOX UPGRADE KIT 03-08 RAM HD 68170214AB?
It is designed to replace your OEM shaft, with your upgraded box it is designed to bolt up to your OEM steering shaft so the Borgeson shaft will work. -Mark
Will this work with a redhead gearbox
Yes and no, it is difficult to explain over a message. Please shoot us a call at 888-993-4373 Mon-Fri, 6-6 PST. -Sands
Do you have to cut the shaft shorter to get it to fit on 2500 4x4?
No it shouldn't need to be cut or anything. Would be a drop in unit. -Sands
