About Borgeson
At Diesel Power Products we not only sell Borgeson steering shafts we run them on our own trucks. They are a huge improvement over the stock shaft and will eliminate the shortcomings of the stock set-up permanently. BORGESON Universal heavy-duty replacement shafts are a vast improvement over OEM and can take anything you throw at them. They are so sure they will outlast your truck that they give you a Five Year Warranty

Borgeson assembly is so much better than stock because of the precision, zero-play, sealed needle bearing U-joint machined from a solid steel billet. It's not a cheap stamping like the OEM. Borgeson steering shafts telescope for easy installation and are permanently lubed and sealed. The telescoping shaft easily handles misalignment from body-lifts and extreme off-roading.

Most OEM shafts have similar couple/flex-joint design, so we now have replacement shafts for Dodge, Chevy/GMC. Ford and Jeep. Some feature a vibration reducer to isolate road shock. Installation is easily done with common hand tools. The tight feel of the BORGESON steering shaft assembly will transform the truck! Borgeson has been making the finest automotive, aerospace and industrial U-joints available since 1914.

You can find BORGESON universal joints on the fastest racing machines and hottest street rods in the world including:
  • NASCAR stock cars
  • Indy Cars
  • Drag Cars
  • Dirt Modifieds
  • Road Racing
  • Off-road Racers and more!
Wherever high performance, heavy duty, reliable steering components are demanded, BORGESON is there. All BORGESON truck steering assemblies are proudy made in the USA and carry a five year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

For your diesel truck this translates into a much tighter steering feel that will last. We have seen play in the sector shaft with as little as 5000 miles on a new truck. These shafts are a must for anybody with a diesel running tires ANY larger than stock.

Great product worth the money

"Great product. Worth the price. Installed when I resealed my vaccum pump and there was a noticeable difference with how easy it was to turn the steering wheel with 35” tires."

The difference between the stock

"The difference between the stock power steering pump and Borgeson's High Flow Power Steering pump is not even on the same playing field. Borgeson's High Flow Steering Pump has brought my 2nd Gen Dodge Cummins back to life with extra power you didn't know you had. I would absolutely recommend this pump to any 2nd Gen Dodge owners if you want your truck to remain reliable for years to come and then some."

Cant wait to install

"I'm writing an pre review and I like the pump. The problem I was having with my stock pump was that at low idle I had to throttle up just to turn fast. So hopefully this will make a big difference in My steering."

Borgeson Pump

"I purchased a HD Redhead Steering gear and the next week I purchased the Borgeson High Pressure pump and steering shaft. I purchased new lines and filter and added a steering fluid cooler. What a difference, my old truck has never driven this well in the past 24 years. I would do it all over again. DPP shipped order out and I received it within a couple days. Thank-you DPP for your service to the diesel community!! A real pleasure to do business with you guys. Steve"

My steering is back!

"So my 1996 Dodge Turbo Cummings 2500 "covered Wagon" has 407,000 miles and the steering sucks. I have replaced the steering pump two times using a remanufactured pump, tired of replacing the steering pump I decided to use an aftermarket. After doing my on line research Diesel Power Products had the best reviews in regards to customer service. I received the part in a timely manner and after rebuilding my vacuum pump and the install of the power steering pump not only did I get my old Steering back I also gained more vacuum for my brakes! I cannot thank Diesel Power Products enough. . . . . Thanks again!!"

Q&A

Will this work for a 3rd gen? 2005 2500.
No, this pump is a direct replacement for 94-02 trucks.
What are the two threaded studs that come off the back of the housing? It says direct replacement for stock but my stock pump doesn’t have those.
Are they threaded studs or barbed return fittings? The Borgeson does have two returns, one of which is capped upon shipping, for all hydro-boost or vacuum brake applications. If you can verify that or check out the installation instructions found here: https://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/800328.pdf
Well this work on a 95 I only have two ports on the back of the original power steering pump
This will work on a 1995, you will just need to keep the upper return tube capped off. -Mark
95 12valve 3500....steering is really stiff, especially @ less than 2000 rpm...will this upgrade help?
Yes it will definitely help with the lower speed steering as it is going to move more volume of fluid then the stock pump. -Sands
What type of fluid is recommended?
Whatever OEM recommends is the recommended fluid. These don't require a special fluid or anything. Sands
