Description
Traditional traction or ladder bars are a great addition for those looking to gain needed traction to prevent against axle wrap and wheel hop. However, they also have a negative side effect in which they limit your suspension's ability to articulate, causing a degradation of performance when off road. That has all changed with the RECOIL Traction Bars!BDS Suspension's RECOIL Traction Bars are a revolutionary spring loaded traction bar system engineered to improve traction and limit axle wrap without negatively affecting suspension travel or ride quality. These next generation RECOIL traction bars offer you the freedom to tune the spring tension for optimal performance on-road, off-road, towing, or competition pulling. These traction bars can be used on stock height or lifted trucks and work with both lift blocks and replacement leaf spring kits. They use a full floating design that won't bind up allowing the full range of wheel travel without limiting articulation. These RECOIL traction bars are built to the highest standards for the ultimate performance on and off-road. The bars are fabricated from 2" OD x 3/16" wall steel tubing with a threaded bung welded in toward the axle and a CNC machined end at the frame. The axle mount uses the tried and true BDS large forged flex end and jam nut to take whatever abuse you throw at it. Utilizing a forged housing with large 1-1/4" -12 threaded shank, a single sided snap ring and 1-piece flex ball, the flex ends are capable of up to 15-degrees of misalignment in either direction. At the frame end the bar uses a durometer specific polyurethane bushing and free floats in the traction bar utilizing a pair of dual stage internal compression springs and UHMW polyurethane bearings. Both ends are greaseable and serviceable. RECOIL Brackets | Vehicle Specific - Fully assembled the RECOIL traction bars are 55" long and mount to the vehicle using fabricated 1/4" steel brackets. Bracket kits are vehicle specific. The frame brackets install by drilling mounting holes for the brackets while the axle brackets install using a set of u-bolts. The traction bars and mounting brackets feature a durable gloss black powdercoat finish. Adjustable Axle Wrap Control - These RECOIL traction bars are built to the highest standards featuring quick and easy adjustment while installed on the vehicle. To adjust spring tension, use the supplied spanner wrenches at the axle to loosen the jam nut. From there the main bar can be rotated to load or unload the springs at the frame side of the bar. Using the concave end of the wrench handle against the frame end check the location of the end of the main bar in relation to the notches on the wrench to verify the load on the springs, the shorter the distance the more loaded the springs are. Repeat this process on the other traction bar and use the wrenches to tighten down the jam nuts and you are ready to go!

About BDS Suspension

BDS Suspension was started in 1996 by a business group who felt it was past time to create a suspension company that truly had the best interest of the off road consumer as its' foundation. With over 45 combined years experience with other major suspension companies, both buying and selling, the individuals that would make up the BDS name were frustrated by the lack of quality and the unwillingness to make things right by these 4x4 companies. So, they set out to create a suspension company that would be the best and made a list of the things they felt were not right and made it their mission to correct them.

One of the most important of these wrongs they were looking to right were that of other companies warranties. Too often, the standard protocol was that a broken or damaged part from another manufacturer was denied warranty because of abuse or neglect. For BDS, its simple, if it breaks, they'll replace it, and that is the motto in which they have based their entire warranty off of. So, they welcome you, try and break it, if you do, they'll replace it and probably try to determine a way to increase the rigidity of the product to ensure it never happens again.

BDS LIFT KITS

While most people whom have heard of BDS Suspension automatically think of "lift kits," that ony touches on the wide variety of suspension and steering related products that BDS offers. BDS understands that not everyone is after a complete lift kit, but still after the quality BDS products bring to the table. Some of our most popular products from BDS are replacement adjustable track bars and dual steering stabilizer kits that in many instances can be installed on a completely stock truck, or one that's leveled or lifted. Other popular "non lift kit" parts are leveling kits that include upgraded shocks, progressive rate coil springs, heavy duty control or radius arms, and even leaf springs.

Reviews

1 star to 5 star

"I’m not able to edit my 1 star review so this should counter balance it. After a while they approved my return and refunded me the full amount."

After spending close to $1000

"After spending close to $1000 for this I found out it can NOT be installed if your truck has Air Bags/Air Ride. It’s not stated anywhere in the description or installation instructions and they will not approve a return because I attempted to install it. Very unsatisfied with the customer service but the part itself looks of good quality."

BDS TRACTION BARS

"Simple installation, works great. Would highly recommend these."

DALE C. (5/5)

Definitely a must

"Easy installation, looks amazing, and you can feel the difference on a hard launch. No wheel hope, no axle wrap just nice smooth launch"

Brittany H. (5/5)

I would not buy from this company again.

"Delivery was late, finally showed up. Installed product and when I got to last track bar, realized that grease fitting was broke off inside track. Called and left msg with no return call. I had to get it out myself because why would anyone call you back? I'll tell you, the next sale is more important than making the last one right."

Summer (1/5)

I would buy this again.

"Works great. Keeps the rearend from moving around. Shipping was fast, and everything was there. Money well spent."

Q&A

Do these work with air bags?
Please see the installation instructions found on this page to reference the mounting location of the axle brackets in reference to your particular air bags. Most airbags for these models mount inboard of the leaf spring directly to the axle, which is where you'll find the two u-bolts that mount the axle brackets, which come underneath the axle. The u-bolts could interfere with your air bag brackets, but with some modification could be made to work. Otherwise, there are some air bags that also mount on top of the leaf spring and to the outside of the frame rail, and in this case, there would be no interference.
I have a 2007, 2500 Dodge with Air Lift 7500XL air bags installed. Will these still fit with the air bags?
Hello Josh. Unfortunately since we do not sell Air Lift air bag kits we cannot confirm fitment with this part.
Currently have 2016 2500 with the BDS 6 4 link. Can these be added in place of the short stock traction bars?
You do not have short, stock traction bars, those are your lower control arms. No, these cannot be used on your truck. -Ben
Will these still fit a 2013 3500 ram with airbags and 4" lift?
More then likely it will interfere with most air bag kits. The U-bolts and bracket are going to sit 2in away from the spring perch which is where a lot of air bag kits mount. If your kit just sits right on top of the springs and doesn't have any brackets or bolts next to the perch it may work. -Sands
I have an 08 mega cab Cummins with a 6"" lift 37"" tires and my axle wrap is getting pretty bad. Will these fit my rig or do I need longer traction bars?
Yes those would fit from 0-6in lift. You will be good to go! DppSands
