Positive shifts, increased clutch holding power! An economical way to improve the performance and clutch life of your stock transmission is to install a BD Performance Valve Body. Our complete upgrade of the stock valve body consists of new valve designs, increased capacity springs, revised oil circuits and optimized governor piston dimensions which the improved oil flow reduces temperatures and lowers torque converter evacuation time for quicker clutch apply. BD's valve body achieves up to 80% higher clutch apply pressures over the stock unit and up to 50% over the competitors with the increase starting at much lower engine rpm's and at lighter throttle pedal position movement. Light throttle shift firmness is also maintained at these higher apply pressures. This building process also eliminates the often referred to "Shuttle Shifting" or hunting-for-gears in the 48RE transmissions. With the new designed valve bodies achieving the higher pressures, a BD PressureLoc is no longer needed when an exhaust brake is installed to assist in preventing convertor lock up clutch slippage this unit does it all! BD also added second gear lock-up capability that with the addition of one of our TorqLoc or TowLoc kits can offer serious engine retarding capability on towing applications. Each valve body is tested to ensure proper function before shipping. While you're replacing the valve body, add one of our heavy duty aluminum oil pans for greater oil capacity, cooler oil temperature and improved case rigidity.

BD Diesel is known as one of the originators of diesel performance because theyve been there since the very beginning. Its by no coincidence that theyve been in the industry since 1972 where theyve seen competition come and go over the years. BD DIESEL PERFORMANCE

Originally founded in 1972 as Valley Fuel Injection that specialized in fuel injection rebuilding and calibrating, BD Diesel gained the most notoriety beginning in 1989 with the release of their first exhaust brake designed for Ram trucks with the acclaimed 12 Valve Cummins engine. BD would later rename Valley Fuel Injection to BD Diesel Truck Service and Performance Center that operates as an extension to BD Diesel Performance. Today, they operate out of a 65,000 square foot facility in Abbotsford, British Columbia and employ over 100 highly skilled individuals. They are constantly pushing the envelope with forward thinking products that not only fill voids in the marketplace, but also take existing products and push them to the next level.

BD DIESEL TRANSMISSION UPGRADES

Transmissions have a singular but ambitious challenge - to transfer all the torque from the diesel engine to the drive wheels. This must be accomplished while maintaining shift quality and minimizing NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness). With stock or OE configurations, this capacity challenge is somewhat less than extraordinary. Comparatively, a high output diesel that develops 2-4 times the original engine torque and keeping stellar driving characteristics at this power level becomes a new feat. Utilizing the latest technology in CAD and FEA simulation, BD can predict and eliminate failures before they happen. The dedicated team of BDs Transmission and Torque Convertor Department are true experts in the development and analysis of the diesel transmission.

BD EXHAUST BRAKES

BD built its reputation on exhaust brakes starting in the early 90's with many casting designs for both engine and remote mount air actuated systems. Rugged cast-iron bodies with an offset stainless steel butterfly build peak efficiency quickly.

BD TURBO UPGRADES

The turbocharger industry is a special industry for BD and remains a key technological asset. When looking at BDs experienced staff, the majority of their key staff members have been developed in or around this technology. BD focuses on the customer's needs, whether it is fast turnaround, state of the art compressor wheels or turbine wheels, they look to deliver on the highest expectations. BD FUELING UPGRADES

Owing to its heritage as a diesel fuel systems specialist, BD Diesel Truck Service & Performance Center is a factory-certified Bosch, Stanadyne, Delphi and Zexel calibration and repair lab. They are one of a select few injection shops in North America to have Bosch Common Rail parts and an overhaul and testing franchise. BD Diesel rebuilds most all mechanical and electronically-controlled fuel pumps and injectors for diesel engine applications.

Best upgrade for the 48re

"When i rebuilt my transmission i installed a trans-go shift kit. The bd valve body is much better. It shifts a lot smoother but still firm. It fixed the "2-3 hunting problem" associated with the 48re and larger tires. The installation instructions are easy to follow and thorough."

Doing it's job!

"I have a early '03 3500 dually QC Laramie Sport 4x4 that came with the 250 HP Cummins version. It's a tad underpowered when pulling heavy & I made some common upgrades. At 100K the 47 series trans was tired and rebuild with BD' s VB, aftermarket TC. The first thing I noticed was the converter staying locked all most to a stop. Nice firm shifts under power, soft when not. It's been 2 yrs since installation and don't have a single complaint. I do use a Smarty POD tuner which I leave on tow tune. Even with the Smarty turned up, all defaults off, the BD VB plays nice and doesn't cause any issues. Been debating about purchasing a exhaust brake, but I no longer tow and only use my truck during our Alaska winters. With a tad over 30K miles on my trans with the BD VB, you can't go wrong."

Great valve body for my 2006 megacab with 48r. . .

"Great valve body for my 2006 megacab with 48re. I previously had a shift kit that would really jerk the truck between shifts, and with this valve body, the shifts aren't as harsh, but at the same time the higher pressure really helps hold the power with my smarty turned up. Also noticed that I have no more shuttle shifting or early shifts from 2-3. It's a lot more driveable now. Very happy, and highly recommended."

Does this include the governor pressure solenoid?... it looks like it might be pictured off telhe right side of the valve body in the picture

I currently have a 2003 dodge 3500 with a fully built BD transmission. I am experiencing the 2-3 shuttle that is described in the description. Is this part a guaranteed fix for that issue?
If it is fully built it would have that valve body in it. We couldn't garuntee it will fix your issue no. I would contact BD diesel and talk to one of their transmission techs about that issue.
I have an exhaust brake now is there anything special I need to add ?
No nothing needs to be modded on the valve body.
