Unfortunately, for owners of any vehicle produced after January 1, 2007, installing an exhaust brake can potentially void your warranty and will not work properly with the emissions equipment on these vehicles. For 6.7L Dodge owners, they are fortunate enough that Dodge integrated a unique type of exhaust brake that merely controls the turbo to create back pressure. For 6.4L Ford owners, they have a similar type of turbo, but Ford never built in the programming to simply control the turbo to act as an exhaust brake. However, BD has changed this. BD utilizes the variable vane technology by electronically closing off the turbine vanes which can create up to 130 retarding horsepower. This braking force will help to maintain your speeds on descents and curves, giving you better control of your truck and load. The rotary switch offers three different modes: Stock Vane Control Only Vane Control WITH Aggressive Downshift The 6.4L Variable Vane Exhaust Brake installs simply and easily in approximately one hour by plugging into existing factory ports, tapping one wire and by mounting the rotary switch on your dash.

BD Diesel is known as one of the originators of diesel performance because theyve been there since the very beginning. BD DIESEL PERFORMANCE

Originally founded in 1972 as Valley Fuel Injection that specialized in fuel injection rebuilding and calibrating, BD Diesel gained the most notoriety beginning in 1989 with the release of their first exhaust brake designed for Ram trucks with the acclaimed 12 Valve Cummins engine. BD would later rename Valley Fuel Injection to BD Diesel Truck Service and Performance Center that operates as an extension to BD Diesel Performance. Today, they operate out of a 65,000 square foot facility in Abbotsford, British Columbia and employ over 100 highly skilled individuals. BD DIESEL TRANSMISSION UPGRADES

Transmissions have a singular but ambitious challenge - to transfer all the torque from the diesel engine to the drive wheels. This must be accomplished while maintaining shift quality and minimizing NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness). With stock or OE configurations, this capacity challenge is somewhat less than extraordinary. Comparatively, a high output diesel that develops 2-4 times the original engine torque and keeping stellar driving characteristics at this power level becomes a new feat. Utilizing the latest technology in CAD and FEA simulation, BD can predict and eliminate failures before they happen. The dedicated team of BDs Transmission and Torque Convertor Department are true experts in the development and analysis of the diesel transmission.

BD EXHAUST BRAKES

BD built its reputation on exhaust brakes starting in the early 90's with many casting designs for both engine and remote mount air actuated systems. Rugged cast-iron bodies with an offset stainless steel butterfly build peak efficiency quickly.

BD TURBO UPGRADES

The turbocharger industry is a special industry for BD and remains a key technological asset. When looking at BDs experienced staff, the majority of their key staff members have been developed in or around this technology. They are one of a select few injection shops in North America to have Bosch Common Rail parts and an overhaul and testing franchise. BD Diesel rebuilds most all mechanical and electronically-controlled fuel pumps and injectors for diesel engine applications.

6. 4 now looks like 6. 7 exhaust break

"It came with small button with lights to tell what break setting you are in. Great suprise not to have knob to turn. 6. 4 and 6. 7 now have same box and button. I only neede a 7/8 inch to install button. Only wish there where better instructions for how to remove dash panel above steering wheel."

Will it work with a manual transmission (ZF6)? Does it require reprogramming?
Yes, this kit will work on the ZF6 trucks, with no tuning required. During installation you will skip the steps regarding the tow/haul connector. If you do have any vehicle tuning, if the VGT is altered in the tuning you may run into issues.
Will this product work with my deleted 6.4 Powerstroke? Will it interfere with my tuning on the truck?
It should work just fine with a deleted truck, as long as you are running a VGT turbo still that brake will work just fine. -Sands
I recently installed this unit with a tap shifter. The braking performance is very good for towing our 14000 lbs fifth wheel our first trip out although an engine code appeared P2563 halfway to our destination. Loss of power due to the lack of boost which was 27 psi instead of about 37 -40 pulling a hill. Any thoughts to why this has happened
That could be caused by a number of things. If you have a weak exhaust gasket or a weak downpipe that cracked and started leaking it could cause that. Going to need to do a little diagnosing. DppSands
