Description
Especially when you are maneuvering trailers, and especially with a manual transmission, engaging four wheel drive LOW is extremely helpful. However, the LOW operation creates severe binding and hopping when turning, which makes it more difficult. Wouldn't it be nice if you could have two-wheel, drive LOW? Well, now you can with the BD 2 Low Unloc! Vehicle maneuverability is reduced when 4WD modes are engaged, as the front and rear axles are directly connected through the transfer case. This makes it very difficult to use the vehicle in low range except in straight lines or slippery conditions. The BD 2Low Unloc Differential Kit allows the operator to disable the front wheel drive mechanism while full torque is available to the rear wheels. This allows for sharp full-lock turns without the front axles hopping or binding. When the 2Low Unloc is turned on, the front wheels will NOT be driven delivering normal two-wheel drive maneuverability while in low range, which is very helpful for backing up trailers, and other special maneuvers.

About BD-Power

BD Diesel is known as one of the originators of diesel performance because theyve been there since the very beginning. Its by no coincidence that theyve been in the industry since 1972 where theyve seen competition come and go over the years. You could consider them a front to back organization in which they design and manufacture products ranging from Super B Turbo Kits and performance injectors for your Cummins to heavy duty transmissions, torque converters, and other transmission components for your Duramax to Positive Air Shutdowns and exhaust brakes for your Powerstroke and everything in between. Quite literally, there are VERY few components that BD does not build for nearly every light duty diesel application.

BD DIESEL PERFORMANCE

Originally founded in 1972 as Valley Fuel Injection that specialized in fuel injection rebuilding and calibrating, BD Diesel gained the most notoriety beginning in 1989 with the release of their first exhaust brake designed for Ram trucks with the acclaimed 12 Valve Cummins engine. BD would later rename Valley Fuel Injection to BD Diesel Truck Service and Performance Center that operates as an extension to BD Diesel Performance. Today, they operate out of a 65,000 square foot facility in Abbotsford, British Columbia and employ over 100 highly skilled individuals. They are constantly pushing the envelope with forward thinking products that not only fill voids in the marketplace, but also take existing products and push them to the next level.

BD DIESEL TRANSMISSION UPGRADES

Transmissions have a singular but ambitious challenge - to transfer all the torque from the diesel engine to the drive wheels. This must be accomplished while maintaining shift quality and minimizing NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness). With stock or OE configurations, this capacity challenge is somewhat less than extraordinary. Comparatively, a high output diesel that develops 2-4 times the original engine torque and keeping stellar driving characteristics at this power level becomes a new feat. Utilizing the latest technology in CAD and FEA simulation, BD can predict and eliminate failures before they happen. The dedicated team of BDs Transmission and Torque Convertor Department are true experts in the development and analysis of the diesel transmission.

BD EXHAUST BRAKES

BD built its reputation on exhaust brakes starting in the early 90's with many casting designs for both engine and remote mount air actuated systems. Rugged cast-iron bodies with an offset stainless steel butterfly build peak efficiency quickly.

BD TURBO UPGRADES

The turbocharger industry is a special industry for BD and remains a key technological asset. When looking at BDs experienced staff, the majority of their key staff members have been developed in or around this technology. BD focuses on the customer's needs, whether it is fast turnaround, state of the art compressor wheels or turbine wheels, they look to deliver on the highest expectations. You can be assured that a BD turbocharger has been hand crafted to the greatest standards. Using precision lathes, milling equipment, honing machines, and inspection CMMs your turbocharger is continuously graded to exceed the OEMs specifications.

BD FUELING UPGRADES

Owing to its heritage as a diesel fuel systems specialist, BD Diesel Truck Service & Performance Center is a factory-certified Bosch, Stanadyne, Delphi and Zexel calibration and repair lab. They are one of a select few injection shops in North America to have Bosch Common Rail parts and an overhaul and testing franchise. BD Diesel rebuilds most all mechanical and electronically-controlled fuel pumps and injectors for diesel engine applications.

BD ELECTRONICS

Throughout the automotive industry, electronic technology has become an integral part of the OEM solution. Whether it is safety, performance, or driving improvements, BD Diesel Performance has developed a strong electronic department to focus strictly on this technology. By focusing on the core needs of the customer, they engineer out the possible product failures and maximize key features to deliver a top to bottom solution. Utilizing state of the art manufacturing equipment, BD maximizes value and minimizes time consuming tasks that inflate costs. Vehicle electronic technology will remain a key technology at BD Diesel Performance.

2wheel low!

"2 low is a must! Works great maneuvering the boat in tight places! Easy installation, and works as described."

Mike B. (5/5)

Great product

"I have a 2014 2500 Ram with a six speed. I tow a 18k toyhauler on a regular basis. When maneuvering my big ass trailer I would always tend to slip the clutch, especially in tight technical spots. The 2 low kit solved my problem completely. Fast shipping and competitive pricing. The install took about an hour for me to do myself. Thanks for a great product guys!"

Derek (5/5)

Perfect product if you haul heavy loads !

"I do some heavy towing with my Ram and on occasion need to back or drive in some tight places , before the BD unlock I would have a jerky reaction from being in 4 low . Now the tight turns are smooth and still have plenty of torque to get the trailer moving ."

Hasher A. (5/5)

Well thought out kit and easy to install!

"It's nice being able to pull heavy weight in 4Lo 2wd when at a jobsite, going up steep entrances and exits with the flip of a switch. Very easy to install in 15 minutes. Thanks for the quick shipping too."

Ryan G. (5/5)

I would definitely buy this again.

"I am very happy with the product it works great. Very fast shipping also."

Ceil H. (5/5)

Very cool little unit!

"Works killer on my Ram. My hill is very steep and curvy so I installed so I could use the engine brake while towing heavy down the hill, in high range first won't lock the torque converter and second is difficult. The plan is 2low 3rd gear going down and 2 low 3rd going up while hopefully locking up the torque converter. Id imagine trailer maneuvering will be a bit easier as well. Installation was super easy. I have manual shift 4wd so installed the switch below the little cubby hole to the left of the radio. Looks clean, nearly stock looking. From what I read prior to installing, install times were generally about two hours. It was raining/slushing on my back while I installed, so I was closer to an hour haha."

Recommend to everybody.

"Amazing Product for towers. Great instruction, easy install. Makes backing a Trailer so much easier."

Q&A

Is there one for a 2013 2500?
Unfortunately, I do not offer one for these platforms.
Is there one available for an 09 ram 2500? Or will this work for that year.
Unfortunately this will not work on a 2009 2500 chassis. This will only work for 09-22 1500, 13+ 3500 chassis, and 14+ 2500 chassis.
I just installed a free spin hub kit on my 2013 ram 6.7, instead of purchasing this kit to go into a two-wheel drive low gear could I just leave my hubs unlocked and put it into the four-wheel drive low which in theory would that be the same as having this kit installed since my hubs are unlocked my driveline and axles may be spinning but with the hubs unlocked I would not be getting traction to the tires correct or by having this kit and activating the switch my front drive line would not turn giving my axles no power to them. I guess in a roundabout way asking if my free spin kit is pretty much the same as having this switch kit installed?
Yes with the hubs unlocked you can go into 4WD low and not spin the front tires.
I know it shows this will work on the 1500, but I have seen elsewhere that it won't because the PCM and axle disconnect are different on the 1500. Can you confirm that it will work on the 1500 with the 44-44 t-case?
It works with both manual and auto T-cases in any of the Ram 1500 trucks from 2009 and up.
I see the benefit to having this on a truck with manual tranny, am I correct in assuming that, with the exception of not having to slip the clutch, the other benefits of adding this to a Ram 3500 4x4 dually with automatic tranny would apply?
The advantages of having this with an automatic is the added gear reduction, which would alleviate the need to two-foot the throttle and brake in situations like slowly backing up a trailer or in a tight spot where more power would be nice, but not at a higher RPM. -Ben
