Looking for a wheel that won't break under pressure? The AEV Katla Wheel is a vehicle-specific solution engineered specifically for the heavy-duty requirements of the 2003+ Ram 2500/3500. Unlike "universal" aftermarket wheels, the Katla is designed with precise backspacing and offset to optimize handling and tire clearance without unnecessary rubbing. Built from high-strength A356/T6 cast aluminum with a massive 4,100 lb. load rating, these wheels feature AEV’s signature recessed valve stems to protect against trail damage. Whether you choose the 17x8.5 for 35"-37" tires or the wider 17x10 and 18x10 variants for 40" tires, you are getting a wheel tested to stringent SAE J2530 standards for maximum durability.
Named after a famous Icelandic volcano, the Katla combines rugged aesthetics with extreme structural integrity. The standard 17x8.5 variant offers a perfect fit for trucks with or without factory fenders (best with up to 37" tires and AEV suspension), while the 17x10 and 18x10 versions are purpose-built to work in conjunction with AEV HighMark Fender Flares and 40" tires. Regardless of the size you select, each wheel is compatible with factory Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) and includes a molded AEV center cap. To preserve the lifetime structural warranty, AEV recommends utilizing automotive liquid paint for color changes, as the high heat of powder coating can compromise the cast aluminum's integrity. All wheels are sold individually.

Tire Fitment: Tire sidewall dimensions are general estimates. Actual sizes vary by manufacturer and may cause rubbing on fenders, chassis, or control arms during suspension travel or steering.
Manufacturing: While AEV is committed to American manufacturing, the current US infrastructure for aftermarket cast wheels is limited to high-volume OE programs. To ensure quality, AEV partners with a premier facility in China that also produces wheels for Audi, BMW, and Harley-Davidson, with direct US oversight on-site.
Application: Specifically engineered for 2003+ Ram 2500/3500, though the 8x6.5 bolt pattern may allow for other applications.

American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), based out of Missoula, Montana, has been building custom vehicles designed to tackle the rigors of off-roading, overlanding, and general day to day commuting since 1997. AEV originally gained a substantial amount of publicity with their line of stretched Jeeps that dds a pickup-style bed behind the cab area, creating a highly functional and visually appealing work of art. While its true there are numerous other companies producing wheels, bumpers, and suspension systems for this application, you would be hard pressed to find another company that does it with the amount of finesse as AEV. And even more difficult, a company that has built all of their components to work in harmony with one another, but work just as well when used as individual components.

The problem with the majority of aftermarket wheels on the market today are they truly are not vehicle specific. Sure, they have certain bolt patterns that work on any vehicle with that particular bolt pattern, but theres so much more that should go into it than that. What about width and backspacing? These two seldom misunderstood variables can completely change how a wheel and tire package sits on the truck, and can cause the need for fender flares due to excessive backspacing or control arm / radius arm rub if not enough depending on the vehicle. AEV took an entirely different approach and built the Katla wheel specifically for one series of truck, the 2010+ Ram HD, yet they will still bolt up to any truck with an 8x6.5 bolt pattern.
