About BD-Power

BD Diesel is known as one of the originators of diesel performance because theyve been there since the very beginning. Its by no coincidence that theyve been in the industry since 1972 where theyve seen competition come and go over the years. You could consider them a front to back organization in which they design and manufacture products ranging from Super B Turbo Kits and performance injectors for your Cummins to heavy duty transmissions, torque converters, and other transmission components for your Duramax to Positive Air Shutdowns and exhaust brakes for your Powerstroke and everything in between. Quite literally, there are VERY few components that BD does not build for nearly every light duty diesel application.

BD DIESEL PERFORMANCE

Originally founded in 1972 as Valley Fuel Injection that specialized in fuel injection rebuilding and calibrating, BD Diesel gained the most notoriety beginning in 1989 with the release of their first exhaust brake designed for Ram trucks with the acclaimed 12 Valve Cummins engine. BD would later rename Valley Fuel Injection to BD Diesel Truck Service and Performance Center that operates as an extension to BD Diesel Performance. Today, they operate out of a 65,000 square foot facility in Abbotsford, British Columbia and employ over 100 highly skilled individuals. They are constantly pushing the envelope with forward thinking products that not only fill voids in the marketplace, but also take existing products and push them to the next level.

BD DIESEL TRANSMISSION UPGRADES

Transmissions have a singular but ambitious challenge - to transfer all the torque from the diesel engine to the drive wheels. This must be accomplished while maintaining shift quality and minimizing NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness). With stock or OE configurations, this capacity challenge is somewhat less than extraordinary. Comparatively, a high output diesel that develops 2-4 times the original engine torque and keeping stellar driving characteristics at this power level becomes a new feat. Utilizing the latest technology in CAD and FEA simulation, BD can predict and eliminate failures before they happen. The dedicated team of BDs Transmission and Torque Convertor Department are true experts in the development and analysis of the diesel transmission.

BD EXHAUST BRAKES

BD built its reputation on exhaust brakes starting in the early 90's with many casting designs for both engine and remote mount air actuated systems. Rugged cast-iron bodies with an offset stainless steel butterfly build peak efficiency quickly.

BD TURBO UPGRADES

The turbocharger industry is a special industry for BD and remains a key technological asset. When looking at BDs experienced staff, the majority of their key staff members have been developed in or around this technology. BD focuses on the customer's needs, whether it is fast turnaround, state of the art compressor wheels or turbine wheels, they look to deliver on the highest expectations. You can be assured that a BD turbocharger has been hand crafted to the greatest standards. Using precision lathes, milling equipment, honing machines, and inspection CMMs your turbocharger is continuously graded to exceed the OEMs specifications.

BD FUELING UPGRADES

Owing to its heritage as a diesel fuel systems specialist, BD Diesel Truck Service & Performance Center is a factory-certified Bosch, Stanadyne, Delphi and Zexel calibration and repair lab. They are one of a select few injection shops in North America to have Bosch Common Rail parts and an overhaul and testing franchise. BD Diesel rebuilds most all mechanical and electronically-controlled fuel pumps and injectors for diesel engine applications.

BD ELECTRONICS

Throughout the automotive industry, electronic technology has become an integral part of the OEM solution. Whether it is safety, performance, or driving improvements, BD Diesel Performance has developed a strong electronic department to focus strictly on this technology. By focusing on the core needs of the customer, they engineer out the possible product failures and maximize key features to deliver a top to bottom solution. Utilizing state of the art manufacturing equipment, BD maximizes value and minimizes time consuming tasks that inflate costs. Vehicle electronic technology will remain a key technology at BD Diesel Performance.

BD Manifold on 2017 RAM Cummins 6. 7 G56 manual

"My truck has NO deletes. It is fully street legal. Note also I am not some race mechanic. That said, the modifications prior to adding the BD manifold include Banks Elbow, Banks Intercooler, K&N filter with K&N turbo air intake which eliminates the corrugated stock resonator and a tune kit running a street tune for the tests. I have baselined the truck using Banks gauge logging to examine the effects for each modification. My last addition and test run was with the BD exhaust manifold. Comparing the results for the new manifold I find all my air densities etc are about 4% lower or so. Atmospheric density was about the same between tests. I find no reduction in back pressure in those tests (sprint from bottom of 3rd to the top of 5th gear). I find no additional turbo boost (stock turbo). Overall the exhaust temps are about 40 degrees cooler w/ the manifold but comparing results for specific respective RPMs my engine is actually hotter. It’s hard to compare results well because the before and after test results aren’t occurring at the exact same RPM. I don’t “feel” any change in performance (I drive conservatively; the truck does really get up and go however). According to the logs I have gained about 5 horsepower from the manifold but that is not in the range of about 2500 -2800 rpm where I’d like it. The engine pulls through to 3,500 rpm now which is not useful to me. I’m getting about 460 horsepower but not where I’d like the power - more in the midrange. I just cleaned my fuel system with Hot Shot (Hot Shot did not increase my fuel economy but it did wonders for the REGENs). With fresh fuel and the added BD manifold I have gain 5%+ (some tests: 10%) in fuel economy. I’m hoping that’s most apparent when towing. My total improvement in economy is about 28%. I do believe tho that the heavy and light tow tunes are performing much more with all the mods and don’t feel much need for the street tune. Finally the service getting this BD was great."

Great service

"Thank for the fast service and great products."

Do it!

"If you're thinking about purchasing this, I'm telling you now to do it! Noticed a difference in tone and performance. Rpms shoot up faster and my egt temp has been running a lot cooler now too! You won't regret it. Install was as simple as removing all bolts and manifold and installing new manifold with new gaskets was cake."

Q&A

I am looking at upgrading to the Borg Warner K27 turbo, will this manifold suit the K27?
That turbo and manifold combo would work nicely together!
Question about your install. Do I still have to install the studs and caps on the block if I have the BD bolt and spacer exhaust manifold kit.
No you do not, this can be used with the stud kit or a bolt and spacer kit.
will it fit a air dog 5
These do fit the Airdog II-5G platform. -Mark
Will it fit an Airdog model FP-150?
The kit comes with 2 different water separator adaptors. Ensure you are utilizing the correct adapter for your application ( Gen 1, 2 or 2-4G). -Mark
I've got a Throttle Up Industries Dual Filter Kit for my '05 Cummins. Would this be suitable or do I need something like the Fleece Fuel Filter Delete FPE-FFD-RO-3G?
When getting rid of your factory fuel filter housing after installing an aftermarket Pump/filtration system you either can run a distribution block (for dual fuelers) or a fuel filter delete. If you already have the Fleece fuel filter delete this kit will not be necessary. -Mark
