About BD-Power

BD Diesel is known as one of the originators of diesel performance because theyve been there since the very beginning. Its by no coincidence that theyve been in the industry since 1972 where theyve seen competition come and go over the years. BD DIESEL PERFORMANCE

Originally founded in 1972 as Valley Fuel Injection that specialized in fuel injection rebuilding and calibrating, BD Diesel gained the most notoriety beginning in 1989 with the release of their first exhaust brake designed for Ram trucks with the acclaimed 12 Valve Cummins engine. BD would later rename Valley Fuel Injection to BD Diesel Truck Service and Performance Center that operates as an extension to BD Diesel Performance. Today, they operate out of a 65,000 square foot facility in Abbotsford, British Columbia and employ over 100 highly skilled individuals. They are constantly pushing the envelope with forward thinking products that not only fill voids in the marketplace, but also take existing products and push them to the next level.

BD DIESEL TRANSMISSION UPGRADES

Transmissions have a singular but ambitious challenge - to transfer all the torque from the diesel engine to the drive wheels. This must be accomplished while maintaining shift quality and minimizing NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness). With stock or OE configurations, this capacity challenge is somewhat less than extraordinary. Comparatively, a high output diesel that develops 2-4 times the original engine torque and keeping stellar driving characteristics at this power level becomes a new feat. Utilizing the latest technology in CAD and FEA simulation, BD can predict and eliminate failures before they happen. The dedicated team of BDs Transmission and Torque Convertor Department are true experts in the development and analysis of the diesel transmission.

BD EXHAUST BRAKES

BD built its reputation on exhaust brakes starting in the early 90's with many casting designs for both engine and remote mount air actuated systems. Rugged cast-iron bodies with an offset stainless steel butterfly build peak efficiency quickly.

BD TURBO UPGRADES

The turbocharger industry is a special industry for BD and remains a key technological asset. When looking at BDs experienced staff, the majority of their key staff members have been developed in or around this technology. BD focuses on the customer's needs, whether it is fast turnaround, state of the art compressor wheels or turbine wheels, they look to deliver on the highest expectations. You can be assured that a BD turbocharger has been hand crafted to the greatest standards. Using precision lathes, milling equipment, honing machines, and inspection CMMs your turbocharger is continuously graded to exceed the OEMs specifications.

BD FUELING UPGRADES

Owing to its heritage as a diesel fuel systems specialist, BD Diesel Truck Service & Performance Center is a factory-certified Bosch, Stanadyne, Delphi and Zexel calibration and repair lab. They are one of a select few injection shops in North America to have Bosch Common Rail parts and an overhaul and testing franchise. BD Diesel rebuilds most all mechanical and electronically-controlled fuel pumps and injectors for diesel engine applications.

The factory 68RFE features a poorly designed overdrive clutch pack and shaft, which can lead to premature failure of the transmission. While many companies will merely produce thinner clutches in order to increase the clutch count, because the clutches are already relatively thin, in the 68RFE this is not the best option. BD determined a method that when combined with their Big Stack Overdrive Shaft, allows for additional clutches made from QT100 for less deflection, less wear, and substantially more holding capacity.

Great mood at a great price

"Showed up packaged nicely. Instructions were great, very easy to follow. I run a mini Maxx with overdrive on my truck, shifts are firmer than before, no shudder. Trans temp did come up a little, about 30 degrees. Still have plenty of room before it gets hot though. I really like it!"

A must have for the 68RFE transmission

"I purchased this kit from this site last week. My truck was due for a transmission fluid change anyway so I installed this kit. Instructions were very clear and easy to follow and now the truck has 250+ psi line pressure. I am using the EZ Lynk setup tuned by Anarchy and I could not be happier. The transmission does not feel fragile anymore. BD Diesel products are top notch."

WARNING: Must remove and drill out valve body to install.

"This requires removing and drilling out the valve body which I was not aware of until I pulled the pan. I was not in a position to drill out anything that day, let alone something so critical as my transmission valve body. So, I put it back together and will have to try again some other time when I have the time, equipment, and patience to do it correctly. This cost me about $80 in trans fluid and about an hour or so of my time."

What type of relearn procedure is required after installing this kit? Will I need an expensive scan tool (snap on or equivalent) to successfully install this?
Anytime the batteries get disconnected, a tune level is changed (CSP5), the truck gets flashed, or the valve body is modified you will want to go through a quick relearn -Shift between park, Reverse, Neutral, and drive multiple times - Quick relearn takes 35-40 miles of below 30% throttle input driving -below 45 MPH -Lots of stop and go traffic Once this has been done you are good to drive normally or at highway speeds. The 68RFE will take around 200 miles to settle down/learn the new CVI's (clutch value index) -Mark
What horsepower is this kit good for?
That kit is not going to necessarily raise the HP limit of your transmission. It is a supporting modification to a pressure box or transmission tuning. Used in conjunction with good transmission tuning you could take the transmission to 475 in a perfect world where the truck was setup correctly. -Sands
I have EFI live from Hardaway running his trans tune, will this work work with those tunes?
Yes, and we would definitely recommend it also.
