ATS DIESEL PERFORMANCE

ATS Diesel Performance, based out of Arvada, Colorado, is a diesel performance manufacturing company that designs, engineers, and manufactures upgraded transmission components, valve bodies, patented heavy-duty torque converters, exhaust and intake manifolds, electronics, turbochargers, dual CP3 injection pumps, and more for Cummins, Powerstroke, and Duramax powered diesel trucks. Operating out of a humongous 110,000 square foot facility in the heart of the Rocky Mountains allows ATS to keep operations in-house, as opposed to overseas sourcing, and then grueling test their products at altitude and through grades and descents that would make other companies think twice. From full-time RV users who travel nonstop to high-horsepower competition-based vehicles, ATS has the answers.

ATS DIESEL TRANSMISSIONS

Clint Cannon and Ranee Elder founded Automotive Transmission Specialists in 1993. At that time, the company specialized in transmission repair for all types of vehicles. In 1997, the company "Performance Torque Converters" was founded, and they started doing torque converter rebuilds in-house. Bringing the capability of building torque converters in-house gave them more flexibility to service their racing customers. As the popularity of diesel trucks grew and more people became aware of the power upgrades available for their diesels, problems with diesel transmissions emerged.

Clint started research and development into a more robust torque converter to address the transmission issues. It was discovered that a clutch pack design was the answer to providing a robust torque converter. The development of the TripleLok Torque Converter and the company's focus on Diesel Performance products resulted in a rename of the company to ATS Diesel Performance.

By having their foot in the door before most, it allowed ATS Diesels transmission upgrades to grow with the demands of diesel trucks, putting them at the forefront of reliability. Fortunately for us, Clint didn't stop with transmissions and began to explore and refine upgraded turbochargers, intake and exhaust manifolds, and anything else to generate additional power with the ever-present mindset of maintaining powertrain reliability.

"They have updated the pickup tube twice and have only updated the instructions once. They I felt crazy and took the pan back off to confirm I wasn't. Instructions state the pickup is a two piece compression design. I looked like an idiot trying to find a seam and unscrew a solid chunk of machined aluminum. 🤣😂"

Gaskets leaked so I replaced

"Gaskets leaked so I replaced with oem style and fixed that issue, the turbo mounting bolts didn’t even clear the casting to mount to an ats turbo, didn’t come with the evt probe pre drilled and tapped like it said it would. I really like my ats Aroura turbo so I was disappointed in the quality and fit of the manifold and hardware."

Install instructions need to be better

"Getting the manifold on was easy once I realized I had to remove a section of hard coolant line from the block that blocked a exhaust manifold bolt. The new manifold did not allow the hard coolant line to be resecured to the manifold due to the hardware not using spacers like the stock. The manifold is well built but install turned into losing coolant and then having add more and bleed my coolant system of air. Little details go a long way in instructions. I like knowing what I'm getting into before I start tearing down."

Disappointing hardware

"The manifold appears to be good quality however the hardware not so much. The premium hardware kit states in the description it contains studs (12), nuts (12, and washers (12), however the pictures show no washers. The kit had no washers when it arrived. Went ahead and installed but I hope the studs do not back out. Only time will tell on that. Also purchased the turbo hardware. The 2 studs for the turbo appeared to be normal all-thread instead of studs and were barely long enough. The 2 bolts for the turbo were too long and bottomed out in the tapped holes of the manifold before getting tight. I had to cut about 3/16” off of the turbo mounting bolts in order to use them. Bottom line: good manifold but look for the hardware from someone other than ATS."

Good manifold, junk gaskets and hardware

"First off on installation, the Allen head in the end of the studs is not big enough at all to tighten the studs to spec, you have to use jam nuts. Second after torquing everything to spec, a week later 5 of the nuts fell off the studs along with blowing out all of the gaskets, needless to say if you get this do not follow the instructions for torque spec, do about 10-15 pounds more"

ATS Manifold

"Bolted right up. Clean casting. Finish is alright. It's delicate until after curing, which requires one heat cycle. That means it will get scratched in a spot or two during install if not cured off the rig prior to install. My one concern is the heater core return metal coolant line that runs against the block and is sandwiched between the manifold and block. The turbo flange on this manifold is larger than OEM, so the coolant line is touching the flange. Time will tell if this is an issue. Be prepared for a wrestling match with the bracket to that hard coolant line. I wasted time wrestling it off, only to discover it still has to be cut and reconfigured for install. I'd cut the metal about 1" from the hard line, leaving a tab to facilitate reconnecting it after the manifold is in place. Much time and frustration could have been saved had I just cut it in the beginning. All in all satisfied with the manifold. I mounted it using the ATS supplied gaskets, which were good quality multi layered metal. I used the PPE hardware with spacers."

Stout manifold

"Love the way this looks under the hood paired with S&B cai and stealth 64mm turbo,went together fairly easy,decent instructions all gaskets were provided also i reused my old hardware just took my time wire brushed all threads and reinstalled using anti seize much thicker and of better quality than stock hands down!"

BUY AN ATS OIL PAN 3019002326 I WANT TO KNOW IF I HAVE TO USE ANY EXTENDED OR SPECIAL FILTER OR IS IT THE ORIGINAL FACTORY FILTER
You do not have to run extended filters if you do not want to.
Is there an estimated time that this will be back in stock? Thanks.
We should have some more of those in 3-4 weeks depending if we sell more or not in that time frame.
What would you recommend for a tuner program and as well to increase the fuel for this turbo. Or would a tune be enough?
Any tuning for aftermarket turbo(non-vgt) will work just fine. -Sands
Is there a certain side that applies to the transmission and filter?
No both ends are the same. It does not matter which end goes into the transmission. -Sands
What size of Allen does that take?
ATS says a 1/2 inch hex. You can buy a 1/2 inch allen or make your own tool with a bolt and a couple nuts. -Sands
