The factory variable vane turbo on the 2003-2007 6.0L Powerstrokes feature a host of technology that, at the time of manufacturing, were relatively new to light duty diesels. The principles were great, but unfortunately, needed some refining before coming to market. Over the years, many of the limitations of the original design have reared their ugly heads and shown what the limitations are, as well as the failure points are, of these turbos. We offer stock replacement turbos that feature upgraded components that will alleviate the failure points of these turbos for those that simply need a dependable turbo. We also offer several upgrades for those that not only need a good, reliable turbo, but are in need of additional CFM for added horsepower.
One turbo upgrade that we have had great success with is the BD 6.0L Turbo Thruster that utilizes one of the renowned BD Super B S300 turbos, coupled with one of BD's award winning Diverter Valve. This turbo package gives the best of both worlds: the reliability of a non-variable turbo but with the superior low-end responsiveness of a variable turbo.
