Leitner Designs Active Cargo System Forged Tonneau Bed Rack - 6 Foot 4 Inch

There is a wider variety of truck owners today than ever before. More and more people are getting trucks for everyday use and recreation and not just for work duties. Usually, these folks need a more versatile vehicle because they're doing a bit of everything. This holds true for Dodge Ram 1500/2500/3500 customers as well. The Leitner Designs ACS (Active Cargo System) Tonneau 6ft-4in bed rack is a more than a contractor rack used for hauling pipes and lumber. These racks are built for those that want go exploring, surfing, hiking, camping, overlanding, kayaking, mountain biking and so much more! The adventure mindset of the ACS Forged rack is the foundation of a platform that you can customize to you exact needs and desires. Yes, it can haul items on the top of the rack but you could also mount a roof top tent, cargo basket, spare gear, bike mounts, kayak supports and so much more. The top is not the only location available for adapting. The sides of the rack have space available for locking gear pods to store your gear out of the elements. Mounts for recovery boards, pressurized water tanks, extra fuel canisters, etc can be installed on the racks thanks to all of the accessories available from Leitner. All of this is possible because of a quad rail, t-slot design for the rails. This gives you unlimited mounting options on all 4 sides of each rail, anywhere up and down its length to fine tune your setup. This also means other companies accessories may be able to bolt onto the rack too. The bed rails are equally as adaptable being able to accept t-slot hardware as well. Having a ton of mounting options for gear is good but what makes it great is how robust the rack is. Fully engineered, designed and manufactured in the USA by the folks at Leitner, strength has been a must-have since day one. While driving down the road, it's capacity is 800lbs and if you're one of those that want to go flog on your truck, it's offroad dynamic capacity is 400lbs. All of that capacity and it's just for the rack! It still leaves plenty of room in your bed for carrying things as well. Speaking of the bed, it's a pretty good place to store all sorts of items. Sometimes, those items need to be secured, out of sight or out of the elements. Wouldn't it be great if a roll top tonneau could be used with the rack? Well now it can! Thanks to the t-slots on the bed rails, tonneau covers like the ReTrax XR or Pace Edwards Explorer series roll up tonneau covers can be used with this ACS rack. The big difference between a standard ACS rack and an ACS tonneau rack is 1) there are no additional rear upperight supports that are drilled and bolted inside the bed and 2) the rear load bar is not removeable. Without the additonal rear supports, both load bars need to kept in place to ensure the rack stays square and true. Additionally, the rear load bars can't be installed because they are in the same airspace as the roll top tonneau cover. Generally, we see this isn't an issue for customers as the ones that need the removable load bar generally aren't also using a tonneau cover. Examples of this would be for folks loading dirt bikes in the bed. The roll top would be in the same position as one of the tires of the dirt bike causing it to be pushed even further back and not being able to be loaded into the bed. What gives the rack such high capacity (at a relatively like weight) are it's aluminum alloy, forged uprights on all 4 corners. These were designed have a high strength-to-weight ratio not only for static forces but also to help keep the rack system from torsional twist. When all 4 of the uprights are connected with the aluminum quad rails, it becomes a very rigid unit made to take on whatever adventure you can throw at it.
