Description
Dodge steering sucks. It's weak, flimsy and does poorly in lifted applications. Some improvements were made when Dodge switched to T-style steering but it still is inferior. Apex Chassis are Dodge guys and they know your pain so they build the last steering linkage setup you'll ever need. A direct replacement extreme duty Tie Rod and Drag Link assembly to replace your underperforming OE steering. Oversized tie rod and drag link ends, connected by massive DOM tubes, eliminates death wobble and tightens up steering under the most extreme conditions. Weak adjusting sleeves are replaced via tie rod and drag link ends threading directly into the connecting rods, secured by jam nuts, Apex's proprietary ninja lock-washers, and ProLock washers.  IMPORTANT NOTES: Track Bars: Does NOT work with BDS track bar. Does work with Carli and Thuren track bars. Your OE Steering Stabilizer Clamp will not fit this Tie Rod. Requires Steering Stabilizer Clamp DC1.75-B (black universal clamp) or DC1.75-Z (zinc universal clamp) for mount in center tie rod, or other suitable 1.75" ID clamp for our steel equipment. If you choose the aluminum kits you'll need a DC2.0-Z (zinc universal clamp), DC2.0-B (black universal clamp) or a 2" ID clamp. PSC gearbox replacement – fully compatible with this steering kit. Dodge note regarding dual stabilizers kits: Due to our oversized tie rod ends, modifications may need to be made to dual stabilizer kit, tie rod end brackets to fit. 2013 Dodge Ram 3500's were a split year for production. The early model trucks use the T-style steering (drag link is attached to the Tie Rod). The late model trucks use cross over steering (Drag link is attached to the knuckle and does not attach to the Tie Rod). Please check what style you have before ordering. Not compatible with Rough Country Dual Steering Stabilizer. HOUSING SAE 1045 Solid Steel Forged Housing: This is unequivocally the best carbon alloy steel for this application. CNC Machined Housing: Make their parts and bearings dimensionally perfect, eliminating any die wear issues. BALL STUDS SAE 4140 hot forged Chromoly Ball Studs: For the strongest possible metallurgy. Induction Heat Treated Ball Studs: Provides a very precise heat treatment to the exact depth and location we want it. Rolled Threads: Are made by pressing the shape of the threads into the ball stud instead of cutting. This strengthens the threads instead of weakening them and allows for easy movement of hardware. This ain't no Ikea furniture! Step Threads: allows for very easy movement of hardware on install and superior holding when torqued (installer choice). BEARING DESIGN Rugged Metal to Metal Bearing BOOTS CR Rubber Boots: The most durable material for undercar applications. Resistant to deterioration from road level ozone, oil/gas/engine fluids and extreme heat or cold Accordion Boot: Ideal for high-articulation components, more flexibility means longer life. FINISH DOM Steel: Matte Black Powder Coat Polished Aluminum: Raw polished finish Black Aluminum: Anodized black finish HARDWARE Grade 8 - Class 10.9 Hardware: Superior tensile strength. Castle Nut: Industry standard where high vibration loads occur. ADJUSTING RODS Tie Rod: 2" DOM SAE 1020 Tube: Heavy walled steel tubing provides the tightest most robust steering on the market. Drag Link: 1.75" DOM SAE 1020 Tube: Heavy walled steel tubing provides the tightest most robust steering on the market. Tie Rod: 2.125" 7075-T6 Aluminum Rod: The best aluminum available for this application. Extremely durable but has some flex and memory if you really bash it into something. Drag Link: 2" 7075-T6 Aluminum Rod: The best aluminum available for this application. Extremely durable but has some flex and memory if you really bash it into something. LUBRICATION Pre threaded Zerk Housing: If you have ever installed a MOOG Ball Joint without a pre-threaded zerk fitting you will understand what a simple but great feature this is. Another installer fav. Greaseable: Because it should be. Gull Winged Grease Grooves: Allows for improved lubrication disbursement around the ball stud. SPECIAL FEATURES ProLock Link Connect System (TM): Exclusively from APEX - This patent pending system utilizes a precision keyway cut into the threads of our tie rod ends, and a pre-bent keyway washer that locks onto the wrench flats of the connecting rod to completely stop any tie rod rotation once the jam nut is set. The jam nut, once torqued to spec, is then locked in place with 3 set-screws inset into the jam nut. Pre Bent Ninja Washers (tm): An APEX exclusive is our Ninja Washer which is a unique method of securing the lock nut to the tube, erasing the need for lightly built adjusting tubes with ugly pinch clamps. And who doesn't want a ninja on their front end! Greaseable, High Articulation Spherical Bushing: For extreme durability our passenger side tie rod is fitted with an oversized greaseable high articulation spherical bushing. This allows for maximum articulation and load disbursement, for better performance, and longer life. Minimum Engagement Mark on Drag Link End Threads: If this mark in the thread of the drag link is showing it means you are beyond the safe engagement of threads into the adjusting sleeve. You may be lifted too high and need to switch to a flip kit or you may need to equal out the adjusting sleeve between the two ends.

About Apex Chassis
APEX STEERING

Apex Chassis is a company that has a rich history in building quality suspension and steering components. After selling their previous company, XRF Chassis, the concept of Apex Chassis was born out of the desire to not try to make a part for everything, but to focus more on a select group: hard working Jeep and 4x4 vehicles. With a focus on a smaller group of vehicles, it's given Apex the opportunity to truly focus on geometry, build quality, and taking their manufacturing to a whole other level. Apex designs, engineers and manufactures everything that has their name on it. This is to ensure the highest level of quality and that their products are built right so to stand the test of time and abuse. Many of the components that have put Apex Chassis on the map are related to steering upgrades, notably their heavy duty, greasable drag links and tie rods for Ram, Ford, Jeep, and GM's. All of these are not your typical auto parts store replacements, rather each features substantially larger diameter material to avoid deflection found in the stock pieces, greasable tie rod ends, and so much more to withstand the rigors of high mileage, offroad use, and larger than stock tires. Above and beyond these parts, Apex took much of what they learned as XRF and offer their line of Extreme Duty ball joints that deliver robust integrity at a price point that's impossible to beat. And the list goes on for Apex steering components.

APEX SUSPENSION

Hopefully you didn't think Apex Chassis only did steering upgrades! That's right, Apex also specializes in heavy duty suspension components to complement their steering upgrades. How about adjustable track bars with with greasable tie rod ends for increased longevity? And why would you want the track bar to be adjustable in length? Easy, if you've leveled or lifted the truck's suspension, it will push the front axle towards the drivers side due to triangulation. By extending the length of the track bar, you are then able to recenter the axle to where it should be, sitting square under the frame rails. Or how about heavy duty sway bar end links to upgrade the stock ones that are known for snapping? Either way, Apex has a lon list of suspension upgrades for your Ford, Ram, Chevy, or Jeep. From the weekend warrior to the long haul driver to those who aspire to race in Baja, Apex Chassis builds top shelf products for your rig to help you take on whatever comes your way.

THE APEX DIFFERENCE

At APEX, they design, engineer and manufacture all of of their SKU's to their own exact specifications. If it says APEX on it, from start to finish, it is their product. Many "steering" companies make tubes and then outsource the most complicated and important part of the system, the ends. At APEX every component in your steering system is designed, engineered and manufactured by APEX to work together for the best possible system. In an APEX steering system, they also ensure that all the geometry is built into the forged steel ends, so you will never see bends in the tubes. Bends in tubes are used as an inexpensive way to re-purpose straight tie rod ends when a custom engineered off-set tie rod should be used.
