Duramax Harmonic Balancers have a nasty habit of shearing alignment pins at high RPM. This is because, due to the poor design process of keying drive gears on the Duramax crankshaft, a random light vibration can be observed during idle. This is found after dampers spin on the crankshaft snout by shearing the factory key. If you were to continue driving with this issue it could raise concerns regarding harsh harmonics and balancing of the crankshaft. CR2's Crankshaft Pin Kit is an excellent solution for repinning the balancer without having to pull the whole crankshaft out of the engine. This pin kit can be used while the engine is still in the truck after the radiator and intercooler are taken out.
Just remove the broken pin and install the balancer in its original position 180 degrees from the factory pin location. Use a drill jig to drill 3/4" to 1" deep, install the hardened roll pin, and tighten the OEM crankshaft bolt with a washer to factory torque to finish the job.
