Anyone with a Jeep that has taken it off-road knows all too well how much the factory sway bar limits suspension travel and kills ride quality. This is why sway bar disconnects are so popular! The original way to bypass the sway bar is to simply remove it all together but this is unsafe for street driving with the short wheelbase and not something you want to do too often as it is not a timely affair at all. Then folks started using pull pins/snap pins/cotter pins to give you the option to more quickly disconnect for the trail. The upside is that it was quick to disconnect but the downside is that they are an absolute pain to put back in place as the vehicle has to be completely level in order to install the pins again. On top of that, they never have been a very tight connection and were prone to wearing out bushings and rattling. Apex Designs is all too familiar with these issues and have come out with the autoLYNX sway bar disconnect kit.
The Apex Designs autoLYNX sway bar disconnect kit will "disconnect" the sway bar from the axle with the turn of a knob on the top of the link. In simplest form, the link is basically a shock that can lock into place for street use and extended/contract while in the dirt with the internal shaft going in and out of the body of the link. When you're done wheeling and need to lock the sway bar up, turn the knob on the links and push the sway bar down on one side until it "clicks" into place... and that's it! The other side will click into place once you start driving. This means you can lock up your sway bar on uneven terrain (up to 4 inches of articulation) and quickly have the control back from your sway bar.
This sway bar disconnect kit is available in an 8 inch stroke. The measurements are for the amount of travel/stroke of the front shocks. The 8 inch is perfect for stock JK / JL / JT's that are running stock shocks (or stock length), even if you have some lift (Compatible with 0-2" Lift) on the vehicle.
The links are constructed with induction hardened, hard chromed shaft and hard anodized body (the anodizing process may cause slight variations in color). The bushing is OE style vulcanized rubber. These are tooled and made special for this application, not a generic bushing. The upper bushing has a special swivel for sway bar swing to alleviate any binding. Sold in pairs and designed for the front sway bar on JK / JL / JT Jeeps but may fit many other vehicles.
