Description
Upgrading nearly any engine with a higher flowing cold air intake or even a simple drop-in air filter upgrade will deliver real-world, tangible performance results. From the factory, the air intake box and ducting is designed to deliver the lowest possible decibal levels while providing sufficient airflow for proper combustion, and your 3rd Generation EcoDiesel is no different. In all honesty, the only good thing the factory intake has going for it on this series of EcoDiesels is the air duct located directly behind the grill that passes ambient outside air directly to the airbox, without drawing air from the engine bay. Unfortunately, the benefits of this system end there. First and foremost, the stock air inlet measures a measely nine square inches with a three inch diameter intake tube behind that built from corrugated tubing that creates a substantial amount of air turbulence before reaching the turbo. For a turbo to work at its peak efficiency, it requires cool, dense air flowing in a tabulated (flat) fashion. If you're looking to increase the efficiency, power, and throttle response of your EcoDiesel, an upgrade to the factory air intake system should be your first order of business. As an added bonus, most customers sppeciate a slight increase in turbo whine as boost is increased.

As always, if you have any questions about which air intake is right for you and your EcoDiesel, do not hesitate to give us a call or send an e-mail to cs@dieselpowerproducts.com and we would be happy to assist.
