For many, driving a full sized diesel is overkill and the truck is never utilized for its intended purposes. However, something just happens to your genetics the first time you crawl into the cab of a diesel that gets you hooked, and you'll never be able to own another vehicle sporting spark plugs again. For years, your options were pretty limited, either drive a full sized truck, or a compact car in order to get your diesel fix. But this all changed when Ram released the 3.0L EcoDiesel!
Many enthusiasts have expressed their discontent that this new Ram will not be featuring a small displacement Cummins, being Ram and Cummins have had such a long standing relationship. However, the move towards utilizing a VM Motori built V-6 3.0L was a skillfully and thought out plan for the engineers at Ram. One of the main driving forces for people that would be interested in owning a half ton diesel is the fuel economy benefit, and the 3.0L simply has the ability of greater fuel economy in comparison to the current Cummins offerings. How would a realistic 28 miles per gallon sound? While many also look at the rated 420 foot pounds of torque and 9,200 pound tow rating as marginal numbers, again, Ram has an offering for these markets with the 2500 and 3500 markets featuring Cummins. Overall, this is an exciting new package Ram has put together and we're glad to see they are the first to market!
