The Carli-SPEC Commuter Suspension System is hands down the best handling system for 99% of Cummins owners who drive their Ram daily, tow, and get a little light off-road use on the weekends.
Let's admit it, the majority of us don't take our trucks off-road, and in the rare occurrences we do, we are usually going pretty slow. If you've come to that reality, why would you want to install a performance suspension system? Well, that answer is quite simple....the ride. Heavy-duty trucks ride rough, doesn't matter what anyone says. Sure, they've gotten better over the years, but they're still neck-jarring when you slam into deep potholes, especially when the truck is unloaded. Carli Suspension has engineered a suspension system for daily drivers, introducing the COMMUTER 2.0.
CARLI COMMUTER COMPONENTS
As described above, the Commuter 2.0 is for those who drive their trucks every day, want a substantially better ride, yet aren't trying to see daylight under their tires. The spotlight of this system is the mono-tube, internal reservoir, Carli SPEC 2.0 boasts 6063 Aluminum construction, an anodized body for corrosion resistance, 5/8″ hardened steel chrome plated shaft, full serviceability & rebuildability and is built with 1-peice bushings in a 6061 billet rod-ends. These shocks are spec’d with a premium 5WT oil to balance lubricity, consistent damping, and the widest available range in temperature variation.
OPTIONAL SWAY BAR BRACKETS OR TORSION SWAY BAR
When pairing added down-travel with the taller ride height, the position of the factory and front sway bar will need to be altered as well. For this, you have two options; Billet Sway Bar Drop Brackets or the replacement Torsion Sway Bar. The Billet Drop Blocks shift the sway bar down and forward to ensure the factory end links cycle properly throughout the entire extended travel range. Carli's optional Torsion sway bar removes the entire factory sway bar assembly replacing it with a torsion bar supported by fabricated drop brackets and delrin bushings. Fabricated sway bar arms and dual 5/8" FK heim end links round off the package. This is the single best bang for the buck, ride-quality upgrade offered by Carli Suspension.
SWAY BAR BRACKET SPECIFICATIONS:- In-house machined billet aluminum
- Hard-anodized for corrosion resistance
- Correct factory sway bar geometry on 3" Lift
- The best bang for the buck upgrade for ride quality
- Allows front suspension to move freely without giving up control
- Requires removal of electronic sway bar on Power Wagons
- Torsion Bar may be black or sliver zinc; depends on supply-chain availability. NOT requestable.
OPTIONAL REAR LEAF SPRING ADD-A-PACK
Your truck will sit 3"-3.5" higher in the front (cab configuration dependent) with 50% more suspension travel than the factory platform thanks to the taller, lighter rate coil springs. For the rear suspension, you have the option to add the Carli Add-A-Pack leafs designed to complement the front suspension and create a level stance.
REAR LEAF SPRING SPECIFICATIONS:- Replaces lower overload spring
- More predictability and spring progression keeps tires planted
- 1" lift matches to our 3" front systems
- Includes U-bolts and Center Pins
- Will NOT fit 2013-2023 Ram 3500 with Factory Air-Assist
ADJUSTABLE TRACK BAR
When lifting the front end of a straight axle truck, the front axle is pulled off-center unless the proper linkages are addressed. Three inches of front lift equates to an axle shifted toward the driver's side 3/4" and, in the radius arm equipped Rams, lightened caster and slight rearward axle shift. This system includes an Adjustable Track Bar to push the axle back toward the passenger side and provide a stronger link with less deflection for the lifted application. You will also receive Radius Arm Drop Brackets to recenter your caster adjustment and shift the axle forward to its new center of travel.
Everything is included to support flawless operation of all components. Included are bump stop drops to ensure the shocks are cycling in their designed travel range as well as a rear track bar drop bracket minimizing the rear end "wag" associated with opposing track bar suspension designs.
WHEEL AND TIRE FITMENT
This system will fit up to a 37" tire when utilizing wheels that are no more than 9" wide with 5.75-6" of backspacing. A 12.5" wide should fit with no rubbing on the factory radius arm and only minor trimming required, while a 13.5" will require more trimming and slightly more offset to fit properly. 35" tires will fit with VERY minimal if any trimming. Carli recommends running an 18" diameter wheel for optimal ride quality (more rubber = better small bump compliance) on a 35"-37" E-rated tire running 45psi front, 40psi rear when unloaded.
CARLI TESTING
After a great deal of test runs with various weights loaded in the bed of Carli test truck, it was quickly determined that the factory payload was nearly untouched, given all of the updates Carli had made to the rear of the truck.
What would a Carli kit be if it weren't getting absolutely filthy out in the dirt or getting the shocks up to temperature? In true form, Carli made absolutely sure the truck could also perform offroad by making numerous trips to the deserts of Barstow, El Cajon and Phoenix to really confirm how the new packages worked. The conclusion? These trucks can boogie just like the previous years!
